Hi I'm Cheryl Larsen

I grew up in Houston, Texas. I have 5 children and 9 grandchildren. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I graduated from college with a degree in Elementary Education. I taught school for one year before I had my first child. After our five children were born, we decided to homeschool our children. I was able to use the things that I had learned in college to teach my own children. We homeschooled for 17 years. It was a rewarding experience to help my children grow academically and spiritually.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon, but it was when I went away to college that I had to begin to question my beliefs and depend on my own testimony and not the testimony of my parents. I had several personal challenges my first year away from home. I was sad and discouraged and needed to know that the Lord was there and cared about me. I poured my heart out to Him in prayer. The love I felt was as tangible as a physical hug. I knew that the Lord was there and that He was aware of my trial. He did not take the trial away, but He supported me in the trial. Fervent prayer became a part of my daily routine. There was real meaning to my prayers and I received answers as to the things that I needed to do in my life. Matthew 11:28-30 came to life as I "came unto Him, took His yoke upon me, and truly found rest to my soul. " I have continued to turn to my Savior throughout my life as I draw nearer to Jesus Christ through prayer.

How I live my faith

I recently had the opportunity to teach a class of high school-aged youth in my home, every school day at 6:00 a.m. We studied the New Testament, and came to a better understanding of the life of Christ and His mission here on the earth. I learned so much as I studied the scriptures several hours each day. My love for the Savior also increased as I came to know these wonderful youth and their love for the Savior. I was inspired by them each day as they shared their belief in Jesus Christ and their desire to serve Him. It is a blessing to know that there are youth who love the Lord and want to spend their lives serving HIm.
