Hi I'm Iris Tenorio

I went to an all-girls private catholic school and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Iris and I love to go hiking/backpacking, camping and playing basketball.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because when I was 15 years old I read the Book of Mormon, from cover to cover, for the first time. Although I have gone to church for my whole life and was baptized at the age of 8, I never truly received my testimony until much later. Growing up in the church I truly did believe that the LDS church taught God's gospel, but this faith was based on what my parents and the leaders of the Church had taught me. Although I trusted these people to not lead me away from God I knew that for me to continue to attend this Church I had to gain my own testimony. In Young Women's (a group specifically for the ages 12-18) we are encouraged to finish our "Personal Progress" (a handbook with many spiritually growing activities). As I finished this handbook I reached the point where all I had to do was read the Book of Mormon and I would be done with the "Personal Progress." It was daunting to read the Book of Mormon. Even though I had been taught of its teachings I had never been able to finish the book. I made it a goal to finish it in one year. Not only was I determined to finish reading the Book of Mormon I sincerely desired to gain a testimony from it. As I read my testimony grew. I remember reading a few chapters and there would be tears in my eyes. I had no doubt that the words written in the Book of Mormon were from God. This experience was the foundation to my testimony that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the true church. From that point my testimony has grown through various spiritually experiences, scripture study, and religious classes. The Book of Mormon and its teaching are the reason that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I currently teach Sunday School for my ward and visit teach other members of my ward every month. I try to live my faith by example by upholding my beliefs.
