Hi I'm Dallin

I am an American, mountain enthusiast, and a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently working full time as a fabricator for a company that builds wireline trucks for the oil industry, and preparing to serve as a full time missionary in the Cuernavaca Mexico mission starting in July. I was raised in the mountains, have been camping as long as I can remember and backpacking since I was five. Despite my mother that love for the hills has grown to rock climbing, and hopefully alpine climbing when I get the time. Trad climbing is my favorite style so far. City of Rocks in Idaho is my testing ground as I learn and gain confidence. As for backpacking, Wind Rivers are my favorite. World class views and solitude only four hours from home! Caught the Mountaineering bug after combining backpacking and climbing during a attempt at Gannett peak. I'm planning on college after returning from my mission. USU and ISU are both possibilities. Music has been a big part of my life, I was on my high school's drum line for two years and sadly am quite happy with just listening. Imagine Dragons is the best by far, but I listen to everything except country and rap.

Why I am a Mormon

Some might assume that I'm a Mormon because I was born one. Well that was true for a while but as I grew up and became a little more independent I was able to see that we do have a father in heaven that loves us and will help us when we need a little boost. The gifts that he has given everyone are incredible. From athletes to authors, climbers to engineers, he has blessed us with the means to do what we love to do. But to me, personally, the strongest evidence that our father wants to see us again is the wonderful world he created for us. He put so much effort into the earth that we live on. Why make something so beautiful if the beings that inhabit it don't mean anything? We are children of God and he will do everything in his power to see us again if we give him the chance.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a member of my single young adult ward's leadership. But the main focus is getting ready to leave for Mexico as a missionary in a couple of months. The way I see it is that serving as a assistant to a leader or as a leader is some of the best mission preparation you can get. Being able to watch others that are more prepared, more thoughtful, and wiser than you help others is amazing. Being able to receive opportunities to serve and help others along side people I look up to is way cool.
