Hi I'm Martin

I am a father of four and a grandfather of seven. I love my family. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have a degree in finance and work as the Finance Director for a public school district. I have been married to my best friend for 37 years and we are the happy parents of 2 sons and 2 daughters. My greatest joys in life have come from being a husband and a father. II have had many opportunities to serve others, both within my church and within my community. I served as The Chairman of the local water and sanitation board of directors for six years. I have learned that meaningful service requires us to forget about our own comforts and concentrate on the needs of others. When we are able to do this, that is when we find true happiness, and when we are truly acting as Christ would have us act.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that Heavenly Father has restored His church to the earth in these days and because He loves us and wants us to return and live with Him. In order to accomplish that, we have to make and keep sacred covenants, covenants that have to be made in His holy temple. I know God is our father and that he is intimately involved in our lives. I see it everyday in my life and in the lives of our children. He loves us more than we can comprehend. I want to return and live with Him forever and His gospel shows me what I must do to accomplish it.

How I live my faith

I currently am serving as the bishop, or head, of our local congregation. It is a tremendous responsibility but even more, it is awesome to be entrusted with this position. While it requires a great deal of time, it is rewarding to see how happy people can become as I am allowed to help them make positive changes in their lives. I have also been able to serve as a teacher to both youth and adults. Teaching is so satisfying as you get to help people come to understand that God really knows and loves them.
