Hi I'm Joanna M Purcell

Wife and mum of four. Born and raised in South Auckland New Zealand, Maori, Legal Graffiti artist

About Me

I am a first generation convert into the Church. Active Temple member, enjoys serving in the House of the Lord. I had the privilege of having a Temple marriage and having our children to us, 6mths later. I serve as a teacher at church which I really enjoy as my son is one and niece are in my class. I am a graffiti artist and have street name Erins as I believe I am on the Lords Errand and am constantly running errands everyday. I come from a beautiful family which are not yet members but I believe if I set my good example, the Lord will deliver them to me, in His time where I can bring them into the Church. At this time I have brought my son to the waters of Baptism and have my second child in preparation for later this year and two others to look forward too also. I love my Husband and the family whom come from a strong line of membership in the Church, where His parents have helped me with my own progression as a member.

Why I am a Mormon

I follow the promptings of the Spirit, which have lead me to the Missionaries, our Prophet and my Bishop. After being Baptised and receiving the Holy Ghost, trusting my Bishop has been the greatest fellowship. Meeting the sisters and R.S presidencies when baptised has been well required in becoming fully converted. No Fellowship, No attendance. I truly believe in fellowship and enjoy meeting on Sundays with my Ward and meeting up with previous Ward members. Scriptures are not a forced thing for me, I feel the bond grow as the Lord teaches me while reading Scripture. Attaining wisdom, I tend to ponder of the things taught in the Temple and the Scriptures in which I believe the Lord has enlighten my mind to strengthen my testimony today and forever more. I had to have my Patriarchal Blessing and fasted to hear the words of the Lord, where I'll share with you a few things it said "He was happy with my efforts to come to Him and that I had not one doubt that this was the Lords Church here on the Earth. I know that the Lord has made me a better person but let me says this... anyone can be better without the Lord and do good but there is only one whom is going to take my family home to be with Father in Heaven again (physically and eternally) and I will praise and sacrifice all that I have for Him because of this fact- HE IS ALIVE and I am thankful that the work for the dead and the covenant children keeps us safe from the destroyer because of His Atonement. Have Faith and do the work.... and I say these things in the name of Jesus Christ, AMEN

How I live my faith

I was Baptised at 28, so I didn't have the opportunity to grow up in Primary and go about the lessons that which my children are now entering. Did I miss out, no. I told myself I had a lot to do to catch up, so I started with the Hymn book, playing the entire book by CD at night while reading the Book of Mormon front to Back. Baring testimony every Sunday till I overcame the Fear and gaining in Faith that the Lord would be voice and strength. I have been a R.S secretary which has helped me with running my own business and family. Its amazing the lessons that are given and taught every Sunday, even if the subjects are repeated, because of the different testimonies and experience of each individual on a topic, the outcome of learning are always a positive one.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Joanna M Purcell
Keeping it simple - I pray, I have faith, I follow instructions given by the Holy Ghost and I do the work. The Lord knows my heart, so I speak my heart in prayer. My Father in Heaven will always answer and give me what I need (not want). Timeless amount of times my prayers have been answered, thus growing my testimony and Faith in the True Gospel of Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
