Hi I'm Carlos

I grew up in Toronto, Canada. Love reading books, passionate about mixed martials arts. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am convert to the Church. My passions include mixed martial arts, soccer and speaking Spanish with anyone who can speak it!! Hobbies include reading lots of books, watching combat sports and documentaries, playing indoor\outdoor sports with friends, sightseeing as well as taking long walks in parks (believe me, long walks can be so refreshing!). I enjoy speaking to groups (aka public speaking) as it always helps me to feel invincible (only after I speak though!). I hope to be multilingual as I have a strong passion towards learning to speak new languages along with already being able to converse in English and Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

In reality, I didn't find this Gospel, it found me. I've always been a devoted Christian, seeking to strive to be the best person I can be. But making changes in life and discovering a change in what you once believed in before can be challenging. That's the story of my conversion. That those who receive shall receive more. It took time and a little effort to know if the Book of Mormon is a true testimony of Christ as I was already steadfast in believing only what I knew before with just the Bible. However, when I finally decided to read (not a lot) just a couple verses recommend to me, I found a joy in knowing that there is something special with these scriptures. I can certainly say that the Book of Mormon is an added to testimony to support the Bible in what it teaches us. The Lord loves His children and will help to give us a clear path as to how to be the best followers of Christ we can be. And that is what the Book of Mormon can do when someone reads it. It gives light to what the Bible teaches us and is the Lord's words. The Book of Mormon has changed and brought more happiness into my life and learning from it has developed me into a better human being as Christ would want us to be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing the things those who I look up to in this Church have always told me would help bless my life. To be a humble a person, be kind and courteous to others and also sharing an excitement (in a poised manner) with others about the faith. I love being able to get the chance teach with those around me about the faith because I have experienced the goodness that comes from living out the Gospel.

Is it true that Jesus appeared in North America after his crucifixion and resurrection according to the Book of Mormon?

Carlos
It has always been known that God loves His Children and that there would be a time when His Beloved Son (Jesus Christ) would come one day and be on this Earth to minister and teach and walking among the Children of Men and sacrifice his life for our salvation. All the ancient prophets foretold of these things from King David to Isaiah to Daniel. There was a remnant of the people of Israel that left the land and arrived on the Western hemisphere. Those people were just like their brothers and sisters back in Israel, they were good people, then became wicked, then good again and then wicked again and so on like a cycle. Among those people in the Americas came out prophets just like the ones back in Israel to tell of the forecoming of Christ. God loves ALL his Children, so why would he not send Christ unto those people in the Americas? But he did, and Christ appeared before those people in the Americas after his crucifixion because he loves all His Children. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Carlos
The Law of Tithing is what it is called a Law. It's been practiced since ancient followers of God such as Abraham and also Moses through sacrifices and offerings. It is a practice that has been done by all His followers from ancient times to today's day. In following this commandment, the Lord promises blessings from Him to us, even more than we can handle as told in the Book of Malachi in the Old Testament. Tithing helps to support the Church in all the good it does from missionary work, to help victims of disasters in the world and so many charitable activities. Show more Show less
