Hi I'm L.T. Hoak

I grew up in Veneta, OR and moved to Medford, OR in 8th grade. I love track, friends and good weather. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a very active guy and I love being outside and going fast. Don't get me wrong though, I also love to relax and just sit, hang out, and have a good time with friends and family. I always have music going, whether in my head, earphone or blasting. its a huge part of my life. My favorite sports are football, basketball and track and field. I also did cross country but anyone who has done cross will tell you the the only thing fun about that is team dinners and winning. My XC team went to state and placed 3rd my senior year. I also went to state for pole vault both my junior and senior years. Pole Vault is my passion and at state my senior year I realized that it is what I want to do as a career. I plan on vaulting in college and seeing where it will take me. All my hobbies and interest revolve and sports and engines. I love working on cars and motorcycles and my love of speed is almost a weakness. A long motorcycle ride with my dad on a hot day is just about the best way to end a long week. Most importantly however is the people around you. Friend and family are the reason to live and provide infinite reasons to never stop smiling.

Why I am a Mormon

I was actually born into the church but I didn't come to love the church and want to be a Mormon until i was almost 17. My entire life before that I had just put on a happy disguise and gone through the motions. baptized and 8, priesthood at 12 and so on. It wasn't until I was about 16 and a half when I realized I was unhappy. I don't like being upset or mopey or sad at all so I set out to figure out why i was so unhappy. all previous outlets and "band-aid" happys weren't working anymore and I finally turned to the church. It seemed almost immediate, when I began to walk the straight and narrow path again I was happy again. This gospel brings nothing but joy and happiness and I am so grateful for its message and uplifting spirit. I'm grateful for Jesus Christs atonement and for the chance to take the sacrament every week and get a clean slate to try and be my best for the next week. This gospel puts everything in perspective and because of that I know I don"t have to sweat the small thing, and that is why I'm a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith mostly through example. I get a bit shy when it comes to religion because it means so much to me I don't want to understate it or give someone the wrong idea. I go to church every Sunday, pay a full tithe and try to be the best person I can be. I live my faith through the small things i do and try to keep Christ in the back of my mind at all times. I am a ward missionary (and about to be a full time missionary) so I often go out with the missionaries in our area to teach lessons. this for me is very difficult and personally takes a lot of faith to go out and teach the gospel to people you might know while still feeling so inadequate. It takes faith to know that while teaching, invite the spirit, teach through the spirit and the lord will put words in your mouth.

What is being a Mormon like?
