Hi I'm Michael Sortomme

I enjoy playing piano, riding horses, and reading good books. I am a twin. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've been riding horses for over 8 years, competing in western games. I'm the 6th of seven children, the seventh being my twin brother. Having such a large and energetic family has taught me a lot about tolerance, the importance of families, and how to get along with them. There is little that makes me more happy than being with my family. One of our families biggest focuses is music: my mother taught us all how to sing, or play piano. Music can be many things for me: entertainment, a way to relax and focus, and most importantly, a way to worship. I can't say I'm much of a pianist, but it is a part of me. Besides music, I enjoy riding horses with my mom and siblings, reading good books, and the satisfaction of work well done. Creativity is important to me, and I think that everyone needs a way to express it.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it is what brings my soul a true feeling of content and peace. Because the Gospel of Jesus Christ brings a reassurance that no other worldly source could. I may have been born into the church, but I found myself that the things I have learned are of true worth for me, and all others who will try the gospel, and see the blessings thereof. I know that the Book of Mormon is true, that it contains the pure, whole doctrine of Christ that all men and women and children may come to know their Savior personally, and to feel the joy in life that we are meant to feel. Joseph Smith was a prophet, and he was the prophet who brought this gospel and the Book of Mormon forth into the world by God's power and guidance. I know that Christ can help us all to feel a true peace and find true forgiveness for our sins.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be a good christian. I don't claim to be a really good example, but I know there is no better lifestyle than that of our savior. I try to help others when I can, to serve and do what is becoming of one who professes the name of Christ. In church, I've been able to serve by playing the piano and organ for prelude, as well as hymns occasionally during meetings. As a Missionary, serving in the Canada Edmonton mission, I invite others to experience for themselves what has brought me happiness, and what can help them to come to know their Savior, and how they can be able to live with Him, our Father in heaven, and their families for everlasting time.
