Hi I'm Rebecca

I love working with little children and aspire to be as great of a teacher to them as they are to me. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in a small town with a big family. My fondest memories include spending time with my nine siblings working on the farm or having adventures with them in the great outdoors. My parents have always been my heroes for all the sacrifice they put into raising their children in a loving home. I aspire to do just as much. Ever since I was little I have desired to share the love that I have been blessed with, with others. In high school, I gave up several extra curricular activities with my friends to work at a daycare in high school, and learned in the process not only my future major as an Early Childhood Education teacher, but also what the Lord truly meant when he said, "Verily I say unto you, Except ye be converted, and become as little children, ye shall not enter into the kingdom of heaven."( Matthew 8:3) Children never cease to demonstrate to me the belief and the humility that I know I need to have. I may be the teacher, but they are really the ones teaching me.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in a family that was very devoted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But that is not why I continue to be faithful to it. When I was born I nearly died. I don't recall the experience, but I grew up feeling that I had been blessed with a gift; a gift to live. My mom always told me about the people who prayed and fasted in my behalf and I believed that their faith was my sustaining power in my time of need. I have had many questions since then about life and death, about what I could do to deserve the miracle that I had been given. The answers came through my baptism and receipt of the Holy Ghost, ordinances that we do in the church that shows our commitment to God and in turn allows God's commitment of guidance to us. The answers did not come all at once. But I could feel the Lord in my life when I prayed and when I read the word of God. The Book of Mormon grew to be more powerful and personal to me through the years as I continued to faithfully read them. I have felt the undeniable witness of the Spirit that this Church has the fullness of truth and that it is an organization that the Lord has provided for his people to help them change and become more like him. I love the Savior. He is who I want to become like. And that is why I am a Mormon. It is because I know this church will help me get there.

How I live my faith

I am a ward missionary and a gospel principles teacher. This means serving the people of the ward and teaching the fundamental parts of the gospel of Jesus Christ in class on Sunday. I love it so much! I guess it is because I have always desired to serve a mission for the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. But God had different plans for me. I felt I was needed in Provo, Utah. I felt the desire to learn to become a better missionary and prayed for situations where I could teach. Within an hour after my prayer I was called to both my callings. I know the Lord answered my prayer that day and that our circumstances never limit us to how much good we can do.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Rebecca
The Holy Ghost comes to each of us. All of us have felt it at one point or another. Whether it is a prompting to pick a certain career, be reminded of someone who needs you, or feel a sense of comfort after the loss of a loved one. The Lord allows us to feel his love and his guidance. But whether or not we have it with us all the time is dependent on our willingness to receive it. The Lord cannot force upon us his help. We show our acceptance of it and our commitment to live worthy of it by being baptized by a person of authority in the Church and receive the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 8:14-18). Its constant companionship will help you obtain the truth you desire to receive and guide you in your efforts to return to your Father in Heaven. Show more Show less
