Hi I'm Summer

Born and raised in Utah. I have a passion for music and ceramics. Called to serve in Knoxville Tennessee. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi! My name is Summer and I LOVE this gospel! I just graduated high school this last year and have been working part time as a secretary. By working part time, it has given me the opportunity to attend various institute classes. Institute is just the best because everyone is welcome whether you are Mormon or not! You will always feel the spirit! My hobbies and talents: I can play the guitar, piano (self taught... so still much to learn!), and ukulele. I love, love, love sculpting! Art is such a freedom of expression. I also love to bake! Interesting facts/things about me: I am terrified of bees, elevators and cockroaches.... YUCK! I love my family, friends and food...food is good... I will be serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints starting in July 2014 - SO excited to share the goodness and happiness of this gospel!

Why I am a Mormon

I am Mormon because of all the joy and happiness I constantly feel. I was born and raised in this church, but I have loved it every step of the way. I have noticed as I do what The Lord asks me to do, that I receive many blessings in return. I am so grateful for the power of The Atonement. I know that Christ suffered for our sins and that he was following The Lords will. I love how in St Luke 22:41-44 The Savior kneels down in prayer asking The Father to "remove this cup from me: neverthelesss not my will, but thine be done." This scripture shows us how much he was going through and the pains our Savior was feeling, but he was still willing to do The Lords will. (as should we) Because he did this, there have been COUNTLESS times when I know that he is right here beside me. I feel his hand in my life every single day. I am NEVER alone. I am truly blessed. Another thing that I am grateful for, that came because of The Atonement, is the ability to repent. Now, "repentance is NOT punishment. It is the hope-filled path to a more glorious future." (Personal Strength through the Atonement of Jesus Christ by Elder Richard G. Scott, October 2013 LDS Conference) Repentance gives us the ability to be forgiven of our sins, whether great or small, and to become like our Father in Heaven. I know we will be able to return to him one day, and that we will be able to be resurrected to our perfect body.I know that we have living prophets here on earth and that God talks directly to them. I know that God loves and cares for each one of us and he knows each one of us by name. I know that for a fact. I know and love this gospel, for it is true. I say these things, in the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith: I love to read the scriptures! Book of Mormon, New Testament, Old Testament, Pearl of Great Price, or Doctrine and Covenants! I cannot say how many times I have received answers to my prayers just by reading them. Another thing, i love praying! It should always be more than an "Oh, I better get this out of the way..." act. (Even though we all do this at some point in time, we are imperfect. But we can always try to do better and become our best self!) We must remember that we are talking directly to God. My current calling is a Primary Teacher. Primary is where all children of the ward, ages 3-11, go to learn a little lesson about the gospel. I was also a Class President for a Teachings of the Living Prophets class at the institute. And have received my mission call to Knoxville Tennessee come July 2014, and I seriously couldn't be any more excited to share this great gospel!
