Hi I'm James

I grew up in Utah. I love to play piano and cello. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I will serve my mission in Tegucigalpa, Honduras in August. I have played piano since before I knew how to read and I have played cello for nine years. I currently am a senior in high school and am very excited to graduate and serve my mission. I am an Eagle Scout and donated supplies to a homeless shelter in Salt Lake City as my eagle project.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I was born and raised in the church, that's not the reason why I chose to be a Mormon. I could have chosen a different path in my life, if I wanted to. However, I'm a Mormon because of the testimony that I have developed of the church's truthfulness and the Spirit it brings. I also like how it is applicable to all of God's children, not just the rich or wise. "The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple" -Psalms 19:7. Throughout the past year and a half, I have decided to take the challenge and prayerfully read the Book of Mormon cover to cover. As I was reading it, the Spirit was able to come into my heart and I felt a miraculous feeling of peace that I had never had towards anything else in my life. That feeling of peace is what has helped me to develop my testimony of the Savior's restored church on the earth in these latter days. I would encourage everybody to not only read the Book of Mormon, but to do as the prophet Moroni asks - to prayerfully study it and the ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Jesus Christ, if it is true. I testify that the Holy Spirit will send forth his confirmation of peace to anybody who takes up this challenge, as I did.

How I live my faith

I play piano for my ward choir. I go hometeaching to three different families in my ward. I love to welcome in new members of the ward or befriending those who are quiet or don't have as many friends.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

James
Many people believe that we worship Joseph Smith. They base this opinion because Joseph Smith was the first prophet of this dispensation (which the Gospel is on the earth to its fullest). Some people also believe that we worship Mormon, hence the nickname of "Mormons." Joseph Smith and Mormon are prophets like Noah and Daniel of the Bible. We worship two beings - God our Eternal Father and His son Jesus Christ. Like the prophets of old times, Joseph Smith simply brought forth the Gospel for all of God's children to have. I have an earnest testimony that Joseph Smith is a true prophet of God and was the catalyst in restoring the Lord Jesus Christ's church back to the earth in these latter days. Show more Show less
