Hi I'm Sarah

I am a costume designer and craftsman with a passion for life and beauty. I am a child of God. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently studying theater arts with an emphasis in costume design. I also work at a costume shop as the costume crafts supervisor and absolutely love my job! I love the magic and beauty not only of designing and creating clothing, but also of theater. Theater is a powerful art form that can touch people's lives and I love being able to contribute and enjoy productions. I recently had the opportunity to be an assistant designer for a production and just presented a co-designed line of clothing for a fashion show. I love what I get to do, and have a deep passion for learning and growing in every way that I can. I love playing Frisbee, cooking, playing violin, singing, dancing, reading, writing. All of it. I love really living and enjoying life.

Why I am a Mormon

Life is hard. Sometimes it gets heavy and becomes too much for me to bear alone. I am a Mormon because with God, I don't have to bear it alone. I could not have done anything I have done without my God. I know He is always there for me. I know with a burning truth that my God loves me, He has a glorious plan for me, and that He sent His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ to pay for my sins and die for me. I am a Mormon because there is no way that I could be as happy, let alone survive in this world without my God's guidance and ordinances. I am a Mormon because the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the one and only true and fully restored church of God that has the power and authority to bring everlasting happiness.

How I live my faith

I work in a field that is hard to mesh well with my faith, but so do most people these days. I do live my faith though, despite this obstacle. I have turned down job offers because they have wanted me to work on Sundays, and I will not do that. As a costume designer, directors and collaborators sometimes ask for immodest or revealing clothing for certain characters, but I will not design that kind of clothing, so I have to find ways of designing costumes that portray the character without being immodest that the director will approve of, which can be hard. Theater is the art of collaboration which requires many compromises, and though I do have to make other compromises, I live my faith by not compromising my values.
