Hi I'm Emilyn

I'm a student, a musician, a daughter in a family of 11, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a college student studying English. I play the piano, guitar, ukulele, and kazoo. I love musical theater and performed as Maria in Sound of music, Cosette in Les Mis, and Mayzie La Bird in Seussical the Musical. I also love to write and have a few poems published in the Kolob Canyon Review. My favorite food is hot and buttery homemade rolls.

Why I am a Mormon

I come from a long line of Mormons so I've grown up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I love God and I continue to follow his gospel because I know it's true. I love to read the Book of Mormon every day and gain inspiration from God's word. I also love listening to our latter-day prophets and his apostles and the revelation they have for us on the earth today. But I think even more importantly I love the temple. A few years ago my family adopted two little Ecuadorians into our family and we had the chance to enter the temple and be sealed to them so that after this life we could all live together in heaven. I remember feeling so peaceful and pure after performing this ordinance, and I remember that feeling every time I enter the temple again. I know that if I continue to live the gospel and follow God's commandments and the commandments of the prophet today, Thomas S. Monson, that I will be able to live with my family forever after this life, and I'm so grateful for that.

How I live my faith

Right now I'm on the Family Home Evening committee so I plan activities every Monday for all the students in the ward. I'm also the pianist for my ward's choir so I play all kinds of beautiful songs for the choir to sing during Sunday services. In edition to attending my church meetings every Sunday I love to go to the Sunday night firesides and listen to the messages the speakers share, and feel the spirit that their words bring.
