Hi I'm Rachel

I grew up in Ohio. I study Music Therapy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've always been very passionate about music. I'm in college as a Music Therapy major. Music therapy is the use of music to achieve non-music related goals. I love, love, love to read, especially novels. I like to run and participate in Zumba classes. I love to watch movies (except Science Fiction-too boring). I have been babysitting for nearly a decade, and I really love children. I like to help people. I like to dance (mostly in the privacy of my own bedroom, though). I procrastinate too much. There are many things that I cannot live without, but number one on the list are my scriptures. I am the only one in my family that is LDS.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon for too many reasons to list. A significant reason is because my personal values and beliefs match up with the principles and doctrines of the church. I also love the sense of family. Everyone knows everyone, and everyone is always willing to help. We have such a deep love for each other. I was baptized at the age of 19, and my family supported me. They attended the baptism, and understood that sense of family. I became baptized because I wanted to be a part of something that brings so many blessings. We are blessed with a modern-day prophet, who loves us and reveals revelations from Heavenly Father. It is so astounding to me that God loves us so much that he gave us modern-day revelation. I have a very strong testimony: I know this church is true. I know that Joseph Smith was approached by Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and was instructed to bring God's true church back to the earth. I know that the Book of Mormon is another testament of Jesus Christ. I know that Thomas S. Monson is our modern-prophet, and I love him so much. I know that Jesus Christ atoned for our sins, so that we could come to earth and have the opportunity to return to Heavenly Father after this life. I know that prayer is powerful, and that God answers all prayers. I love this church with all my heart, and it has made me happier than I have ever been.

How I live my faith

I was only baptized about three weeks ago, so I have not received a calling yet. I hope to soon, though! I would like to work with the young children (Primary), but I am sure that wherever I am called, I will love it. I am very proud of being a member of the Church of Jesus-Christ of Latter-day Saints. I like to talk about the church and all of its blessings to my friends and family outside of the church. Even if I cannot convince them to come to church, at least they understand my happiness and where it comes from. I read my scriptures every night before I go to bed, and always say a prayer for strength and confidence, and for the people in my life that need guidance and comfort. I participate in all of the church activities that I am able. Being at church is the best part of my week.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost is one of the best blessings in my life. I know that The Spirit will always be here to protect me, warn me of danger, comfort me on my bad days, and help me feel Heavenly Father's love. Whenever I am in an uncomfortable situation, or just having a rough day, I find a quiet place and say a prayer that the holy Sprit will dwell within me and get me through that situation or that rough day. When I received the Holy Ghost (confirmation), I was overcome with emotion, and I knew it was because I was truly experiencing the Spirit for the first time. It is a wonderful feeling to know that a member of the God-head is always by my side. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

The current prophet and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Thomas Spencer Monson. He delivers revelations from Heavenly Father. He loves us all so much, and would do anything for us. I love him with all my heart and am so grateful to have him deliver revelations from our Heavenly Father. Show more Show less
