Hi I'm John

I'm a geophysicist. I'm a father. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy learning about different cultures (domestic and abroad) how people interact with each other. I love my country and its founding principles. I am fortunate to live in a time when ideas are shared at the touch of a button and they can be viewed all across the world just as quickly. I enjoy deep thought (and then writing about it), emergency preparedness, the mountains, camping, hiking and kayaking. I love my family and spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today and forever. He has subdued all enemies in preparation to save His people. While on the earth, He established His church with revelation and the priesthood authority necessary to guide His people home to Him. Through the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jesus Christ restored His church once again to the earth. With this restoration came apostles and prophets who, under divine authority and revelation, lead and guide the church today. The Book of Mormon (Another Testament of Jesus Christ) illustrates God's love for His children as He spoke to prophets in the Americas as well as Israel (and others). I am a Mormon because I know, through His Holy Spirit, that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints truly is His restored church on the earth, directed by His chosen servants.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being prepared. Prepared to serve, to lift, and to encourage. Jesus Christ is my hero, my master and my exemplar. By following His example, to the best of my finite ability, I can be happy and help others to be so as well. I live my faith by being grateful for what I have been given and by building upon or enlarging the blessings and talents I have received. One of my most valued possessions is my integrity.
