Hi I'm Amanda

I am a mother, full time student and military wife trying to balance it all. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I have three handsome boys and an awesome husband who is in the Army. Being a military family has its challenges. There was one particularly difficult time when my husband was gone for almost two years. To get through it, I turned to my friends, family and the Lord. I also tried to keep myself busy as much as possible. Now that he is home, we enjoy spending as much time with him as we can. I have always loved children and now I have the opportunity to be able to go to school and study to be an elementary school teacher. Now that my kids are older, I have the time. I am also lucky that I can get my degree completely online so I can still be home with my family. The kids and school keep me pretty busy, but I still enjoy volunteering with the FRG (Family Readiness Group) for my husband's unit. I love to go and meet new people and help out my husband's company has much as I can. I think it is very important to support my husband with work, especially since his job in the Army is very stressful. My family loves to go hiking, camping and exploring anything outdoors. I love to watch my boys play soccer and I like to play video games and Legos with them. On my free time I love to get lost in a good book and try new recipes to cook. I am also a shoe addict who can't pass a shoe store without going in. My husband is my best friend and I love to spend as much time with him as I can. We both know he could leave at any time, so we cherish every moment together.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but when I was a teenager I fell away. I felt like I knew better than my parents and the Lord. Falling away made me make some very poor decisions, and as a result, I became a teenage mom. I had wonderful parents who were there to support me and let me know that I could always go back to church. It wasn't until after I was married and was pregnant with our second child that I gained a testimony of the gospel. I knew that I wanted to be with my family forever and that it was only possible through the church. My husband and I were able to be sealed to our children in the temple with both of our families there. I love the church and have seen firsthand how the gospel can change your life. I try to be a good example to my children and to teach them about the Lord. I want them to have a testimony to know that Heavenly Father will be there for them always and that they need to trust in the Lord and follow the path that he wants them to take. No matter what they do or decisions they make, I will always love them, and I know that Heavenly Father feels the same way.

How I live my faith

In church, I am a leader in our children's program called Primary. I love working with the children in our ward and have found that it is very rewarding. As a teacher and leader, it is my responsibility to teach the children the gospel. I know how important it is to teach them and build a strong foundation of the gospel, so they can build on it the older they get. Being in Primary has taught me so much. Every week, my foundation of the gospel is strengthen when I am with the kids. I love to go every Sunday and see the children learn and grow. Going and seeing their sweetness and purity is so refreshing.
