Hi I'm Rachel

I'm from Sacramento, California. I love my family. I'm a wife, a daughter, a sister, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up a swimmer in California. I will always cherish my swimming years. I played water polo in high school and a year of college. I love my family and friends from back home and often think about them. I especially cherish now all of the blessings I've enjoyed from being a member of the church in my youth. Things like my baptism, first time going to the temple and other visits after, my patriarchal blessing, Sacramento temple dedication, pioneer treks, and girls camp. I will forever be thankful for the Gospel. I graduated with my Bachelors in 2013, in Family and Consumer Studies, with all my pre-reqs for Occupational Therapy. I have yet to decide if I want to go to grad school. I love the opportunity I have to work with individuals with disabilities. I do programs like basketball, wheelchair rugby, power soccer, swimming etc. I specialize in aquatics and am so thankful to be one of the head coaches for our Otters swim club for kids who have autism. I know that all people here on earth truly are sons and daughters of God. As I work with them, I feel the Lords love for each of them on a regular basis. In return, they help me to know of the love Heavenly Father has for me through their raw and simple language, touch and personalities. My husband and family are wonderful. We love to be active, be in nature, read, be with family/ friends. He loves to build and I love music. I play the piano, guitar, clarinet and flute. We love the Lord.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church, but I still had to decide whether to remain a member in my adult years. If I had to choose one thing, I would say that of all else, I have felt the love, pure love of my Savior and Redeemer for me. I know that He lives, loves all of us, and would not leave us in the dark. He is always waiting for us to open our hearts to Him. His love, mercy and forgiveness do not care what mistakes you have made, He wants us to come home to Him. In all the darkness and confusion the world brings to our souls, Christ is the light and constant that I rely on. He gives this freely, to those who sincerely ask for it and are willing to follow Him. This is a miracle that I know all of us can experience.

How I live my faith

The ways in which I live my faith are the simple things. I strive to study the word of God, pray daily and on my knees, keep the commandments, attend the temple, do daily service, have an evening each week for family night, and attend all of my Sunday meetings. Sounds like a lot, but I can tell you how my soul loves and hungers for all these things. Other extra things I choose to participate in are fulfilling callings, participating in our community, local political meetings, and visiting members of our ward (congregation). I am not a perfect person to say the least, but I know that through Jesus Christ I can be healed of all my sins and shortcomings.

Does The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints endorse political parties?

No, but they encourage us to participate in our communities and politics as we feel is appropriate. Show more Show less
