Hi I'm Lori

I was born and raised in southern California. I love to snowboard, hike, and be outdoors. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

My name is Lori but I also go by Lo. I am a convert! I was baptized in November of 2012. I am serving a full time mission in the beautiful state of Washington! I love the mountains and exploring in nature. I grew up in southern California and love the beach but prefer to go snowboarding, hiking and camping. My step father adopted me when I was 7 and married my mom when I was 8. I have two younger siblings that I love and cherish!

Why I am a Mormon

As I became a young adult I was not attending church. Other activities in my life became more important than attending church and I started focusing on things that were not church related what so ever. As I was attending college, I started feeling empty inside. Not knowing how to fill this emptiness, I had the thought of "maybe you should try attending a church". Acting on that thought I attended a few Christian churches near my home. As I attended I still felt empty inside. The messages were good and uplifted me but there was still something missing. One evening after a snowboarding trip, a good friend of mine came up to me and handed me a pamphlet and said that he was a Mormon. I looked at him straight in the face and laughed. I thought he was joking. I looked down at the pamphlet he had given me and quickly realized that he was not joking. He was serious and invited me to check out the LDS church. I went home that evening and threw the pamphlet in my desk drawer and did not look at it again. A couple weeks past and my curiosity got the best of me. I went to where the pamphlet was laying in my desk drawer and decided to take it out and skim through it. The pamphlet made so much sense to me that I decided to investigate a little further. The things that I was reading on church websites and reading in other church pamphlets were the things that I have been looking for in a church. The feelings I received while learning about the church filled the emptiness that I had. Shortly after investigating and taking the lessons with the missionaries, I was baptized.

How I live my faith

Just 6 months after becoming a member of the church I received my first calling as secretary for my ward's Relief Society. Just becoming familiar with Relief Society, my ward and callings... I had to rely on faith to help me know what to do in my calling and how I could help the needs of the sisters in my ward. I loved serving the sisters in my ward and tending to the needs of the Relief Society President. I have since been released from that calling and have received a new calling as I prepare to embark on my own adventure of being a full time missionary.

In whom should we have faith?

Lori
We should have faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and in our Father in Heaven. Faith is a hope for things which are not seen, but which are true. Faith is trust. Trust in our Heavenly Father, and trust in Jesus Christ. "Trusting" that no matter what you might face in your life, you will be able to make it through. For by faith all things are fulfilled.
