Hi I'm Angela

I'm a mother, wife, teacher, and I'm working on my Ph.D. in theatre.

About Me

Hello! I am the mother of three boys, and my husband and I are both teachers. We love to enjoy all that the region has to offer, including the fabulous parks, the wonderful museums, and the incredible performing arts. When I'm not teaching, performing, researching, or hanging with my family, I enjoy creative writing, reading, playing piano, all forms of dance, and the equestrian sports of eventing and dressage. I love learning! I hold a Master of Arts in English and a Master of Arts in Teaching (English and Oral Communications Education), and a Bachelor of Arts in Theatre Studies. I am currently working on my Ph.D. through the Department of Theatre with an emphasis in theory and literature. I love dramaturgy and I was honored to receive a Kennedy Center fellowship in student dramaturgy.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the church, but I don't think I really gained my own testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ until much later. It's easy to lean on your parents' testimonies, but once I started a family of my own, I realized I would have to decide what I really believed in. I was stubborn, and part of me wanted to reject what I had been taught for so long. It was the absence of the gospel in my life that truly made me realize how valuable it truly is, and I wanted my children learn and grow in a home filled with the Spirit. I can feel the true purpose of my life when I let the spirit of Christ into my life. I'm a Mormon because I know it is the true church, and that if we strive to follow the commandments, we will be able to return to our Father in Heaven someday. That's amazing!

How I live my faith

I strive to live my faith by viewing each and every day as an opportunity to help and serve others. When my husband and I were looking for a painting to place over our piano, we chose Jesus washing washing the feet of another. I look at that painting before I leave my house each morning, and whenever my day gets tough, I think about the example Jesus set for all of us. I believe that each of us were placed on this earth with different talents so that we can serve each other in various ways. For example, I have been blessed with the ability to sing. I'm able to use this gift to help teach songs to the children in my congregation, and I've been able to use within my high school classroom. I try to choose to perform in theatre productions that will help bring joy to others' lives. It's awesome to be able to bring a smile to others' faces through this gift.
