Hi I'm Parker Whiting

I'm an avid drummer, love to make music, and am serving a full-time mission for two years in the France Lyon Mission.

About Me

I was born in Provo, Utah, but only lived there for one year before moving with my family to Michigan. Then our life took us to Kentucky, and finally, to Texas. I love where I live, Texas culture is a part of my life now, and I love getting to live in the Lone Star state, where I've spent the majority of my life. I'm a people person, and my whole life I've loved spending time with my friends, getting to meet new people, and love being able to talk with people from all around the world. I love when I get the chance to help somebody out in whatever way they need me, and find great joy in all the relationships I have in my life. I'm a musician, specifically a percussionist, and have been playing percussion for about seven years. Music is a huge part of my life, I love singing with my family, or with my friends, and getting to make music with a band is one of the great pleasures of my life. I love my family, being the oldest of six children, which makes for a full household, lots of noise and games and fun in a place where we all know we love each other. My parents have set the best examples I know of of good and loving parents, and I hope to be able to replicate their example in my future family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was lucky enough to be born into this church, and have gained for myself a testimony of the truthfulness of it's message. I know in my heart that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, and that he did restore the full gospel of Jesus Christ to the earth through revelation and the restoration of authority. I have seen in my life the blessings of keeping all the commandements of God, the happiness that comes when we put him first in all things, and let him influence our lives and change us individually. I have seen how quickly our lives become less happy and full of light when we let ourselves become distracted and led away from the teachings of the church, how clear a difference there is between when we are striving to be our best in God's eyes and when we are not. I know without a doubt that our Heavenly Father is real, and that He loves with a love we cannot begin to understand, shown to us through the infinite sacrifice of His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ. I know this love is a personal love, that He loves each and every one of us individually, and that one day we will have the opportunity to live with Him again. I have felt and seen His influence in my life, and have seen in the lives of others the amazing and wonderful effect it can have in all our lives. I know that God speaks to us today through modern prophets, and that if will listen to what they say to us, we can be quided throughout our life, and that He will never leave us alone if we are willing to follow Him.

How I live my faith

I am serving a full time mission right now in the France Lyon Mission, and have the opportunity to try my very best to serve everyone that is around me in the best way possible. I love getting to share my faith with everyone around me as a missionary, and having the chance to see how people's lives can be changed by the Savior, Jesus Christ. As a missionary I try to do my very best to live as I know He lived, to be an example to everyone around me, and to try and love everyone in such a way as to let them know how much He loves them. The choices I make in my life are influenced by Him in everything that I do, and I know that although sometimes it may not seem easy, living in the way He did will ultimately bring blessings into my life that I have never seen. I try to study from my scriptures and from the teachings of the prophets and apostles daily, so that I can keep myself in tune to what I know the Savior wants for me in this life. I know the scriptures are a way that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ try to communicate with us, and so I try in my life to make them a priority.
