Hi I'm Jared Murphy

I grew up near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. I'm a runner, farmer, student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Before I moved to go to college, I was involved in a lot of extracurricular activities. I ran cross country, winter track, and spring track for my high school all four years and had a lot of success. My Junior and Senior years I was captain of the teams as well. Some of my best friends I've ever had come from those years on my teams. I also had a great time in the BSA programs and earned my Eagle Scout. Among my farming endeavors, I was a member of my local 4-H program and had a lot of fun times. I was president of our Breeding Sheep club and Market Lamb clubs, and had a lot of fun in other clubs like Beef, Laying hens, heritage chickens, heritage turkeys, Thanksgiving turkeys, roaster chickens, gardening. In high school I loved playing the Clarinet in some of the bands and gained a lot of friends and experience. I'm currently looking forward to finishing my freshman year and going on a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!

Why I am a Mormon

I love this gospel. I have seen it work miracles in my life and in countless others around me. I know that the power of the priesthood is real. I know that prayer and living the principles and commandments found in the scriptures bring real blessings to all areas of our lives. It is hard to put in to word how much it means to me, but I know I wouldn't be where I am today without the pure light of Christ guiding my life.

How I live my faith

I love the wards I have been in! They provide such a wonderful group of people that support you through trials, and love you unconditionally. I also love the opportunity that I have to home teach other members of the ward as well as being home taught by others. It's great to know that someone is always there for you if you need them. Home teaching combined with other service opportunities has grown my love for Christlike service. In the past I have been a counselor and president of my priesthood group. I also was Senior Patrol Leader for my scout troop for a couple of years. I really enjoy going to church and learning more of the truth each week. The spirit I feel each week enhances my faith and encourages me to continue living the gospel.
