Hi I'm Allison Grow

I grew up in the California mountains. I love animals, singing, my family, and the Savior. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I've been working in a retail store in a resort area for almost 4 years now. Through this job, I've been able to meet all sorts of people who visit from all around the world. I love meeting new people and feeling the love that Heavenly Father has for all his children, no matter where they are from or their personal backgrounds. Throughout my life and especially in high school I developed a love for singing and performing. I love singing in choirs and musicals and especially in ways that praise our Savior, Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in an LDS home, and was baptized when I was 8 years old. I'm grateful to my parents for teaching me the principles of the gospel and helping me start on the path back to my Heavenly Father, but as many members who grew up in the church, there came a point in my life where I needed to make sure I had a testimony of my own instead of relying on the testimony of my parents or church leaders. I remember a challenge given in an October General Conference by our previous prophet Gordon B. Hinkley to read the entire Book of Mormon by the end of the year. I took that challenge. It was the first time I read the Book of Mormon from cover to cover and as I made it a priority in my life through daily reading, I found that my life just seemed to be better. Problems that would arise in my life seemed conquerable because of the strength I received from the Savior, Jesus Christ as I followed the counsel of his servant, the prophet. When I took the challenge given by the ancient prophet Moroni in the last chapter of the Book of Mormon to "ask God, the Eternal Father in the name of Christ if these things are not true" and because I asked "with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ" (Moroni 10:3-5) I got a confirming witness from the Holy Ghost that the book and the principles found in it were true. Through this witness, I know that it was translated by the power of God by Joseph Smith and that he must have been a prophet called of God in order to have that power to translate it. As I live the gospel in my daily life, I feel a peace and comfort that I know comes from the Holy Ghost, sent by God. It helps me feel love for my fellow men, it makes life not only bearable but enjoyable, and the Church is a place of refuge from this crazy world.

How I live my faith

I am called to serve as a full-time missionary in the Arizona, Mesa mission beginning April 16th 2014. I am excited for this opportunity to teach my brothers and sisters, and also to learn more about what the Lord has in store for me. I know that through my diligence and faith in Christ that I will be able to witness miracles in my life and in the lives in the people around me.
