Hi I'm Jared Meyers

I live in Idaho (but for now in Peru). I'm 20 years old. I'm an outdoorsman and a musician. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm Jared, I'm 19 years old. I love to hunt, fish, whitewater raft, backpack, pretty much anything to do with being outside. I play five musical instruments; violin, cello, guitar, bass, and piano, and I also sing.I am currently serving my mission in the Lima Peru West Mission. I have one little brother who is eleven. My parents have six siblings each so I have lots of cousins and extended family. I've traveled to many places in the United States, including Hawaii, Alaska, and Florida, and I've also been to a few places out of the U.S. I've been to Mexico, Finland, Estonia, Sweden, and the Netherlands.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the gospel, but I have come to know of myself the truthfulness of this magnificent gospel of Christ. The Holy Spirit has witnessed of the goodness and righteousness of this Church. Simply put, why I am a member of the Church is because in it, I find so much more joy! I love what we can receive if we follow the commandments the Saviour has given us. He offers eternal life and eternal joy if we follow his commands and keep covenants. I know personally of the power of His Atonement for our sins. I have felt sins become forgiven and the pain of them leave through His infinite love made manifest in His sacrifice. I know Joseph Smith restored this gospel and that no uneducated farm boy could write what he translated without having the power of the Supreme Being with him. He was a prophet of God. He returned the keys of the kingdom of God to the Earth. And Thomas S. Monson is God's prophet on the Earth today and continues to hold those keys. I know of God's love for each of His children and I have seen it and felt it. And I cannot wait to share it with the people of Peru in the coming months when I depart on my mission.

How I live my faith

I'm actively involved in my community. Our young men's group for church go and do service projects in our area all the time. We try to do at least one a month. I also am an Eagle Scout for the Boy Scouts of America and completed a large service project for that. I'm the 1st Assistant in our Priest's Quorum and the pianist for priesthood and mutual opening exercises. I home-teach three families with my father as my companion. We home teach two less active families and I've had the glorious opportunity to teach them the lessons from Preach My Gospel, the manual for full time missionaries! I love giving my time and talents to my community and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints!
