Hi I'm Harrison Thurgood

I'm a missionary in Germany, I play a mean defender, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a missionary in the Germany Frankfurt Mission. I love being here and talking to everyone. Missionary service is the best! I am really looking forward to the rest of my mission. I studied mechanical engineering at the University of Arizona. I plan to resume my studies after my mission. I love to play sports and be active. My favorite sport is soccer. There is nothing better than being on a pitch right after the grass has been cut. I also enjoy distance running, and ran on my high school's track team. I am the oldest in my family, I have two little sisters whom I love dearly. I am very outgoing and very loud and I love to make friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that this true gospel restored in the latter days. We have the opportunity to listen to a living prophet and receive counsel about how we should go forward. After being baptized, I had the opportunity to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost. He and my Savior have been companions to me throughout my life, and I know that I would not be where I am today without them. They and this gospel have provided me with the knowledge I need to tackle this world head on while standing tall.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through the simple things. I try my best in all that I do to be an exemplar of Christ and all of His teachings. I like to look for service opportunities and I try to serve faithfully in my callings. Being a representative of Christ, I try to make sure that how I am viewed is in accordance with gospel standards.I think one of the biggest ways I live my faith is just by being me. Being at college I have had an opportunity to speak a lot about and be an example of my faith. I do what I do and sometimes people take notice.

What is faith?

Harrison Thurgood
Faith can be described akin to trust. The main difference between faith and trust is action, both are a principle of power. Trust provides the power. Faith adds action into that power. To truly have faith in God, we are willing to act on his behalf. We not only trust Him, but we trust that what we are doing for Him is right and act. Like the prophet Alma said, "faith is a hope for things which are not seen, which are true." Each and every day, we act upon gospel principles having faith that the end result will be favorable with God. Faith is like a seed. Plant it, nurture it, and it will grow. Show more Show less

What is the Book of Mormon?

Harrison Thurgood
The Book of Mormon is exactly what its title says: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. The Book of Mormon, like the Bible, explains that Christ really did live and that He is our elder brother and God's Son. The Book of Mormon is composed of the writings of ancient prophets from the Americas. It is a collection of the writings of prophets and records starting from the prophet Lehi, who traveled from Jerusalem to the American continent. The prophets in the Americas knew Heavenly Fathers plan for us, His children and the role the Jesus Christ would play in our salvation. Christ appeared to and taught the american people and formed His church among them as well. The Book of Mormon contains the teachings of Jesus Christ. It testifies of His love for us and His Atonement. Near the end of The Book of Mormon, it is promised that if we sincerely ponder and pray about the things we have read, that we will know it is true by the power of the Holy Ghost. The Book of Mormon is another sacred doctrine containing the teachings our of Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
