Hi I'm Spencer

I'm an avid digital media lover, the oldest of 6 kids, and BYU student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Born in California, and although I can't remember these years well because my parents had Disneyland Passes I feel this is why I love all things Disney, animation, and happy. Raised in Las Vegas I loved being the oldest, and surrounded by my siblings. I always enjoyed spending time with them and my next oldest brother became my best friend. We moved to Utah in the middle of my 7th grade year and that was an interesting move. We all had so many friends that we left behind. And the neighborhood we moved into didn't have a lot of kids our ages. I had a rough time seeing my brothers and sister go through this change. But eventually we all came to have new friends and enjoy our new home. After high school and a year of university, I left to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I loved those 2 years I spent serving the Lord and His children in Eastern South Africa. I am now engaged to a beautiful young lady, to be married this summer. I am also studying computer science with an emphasis in animation. Life is tough at times, but it is fantastic!

Why I am a Mormon

I have been raised in a wonderful family with parents that have both been active in their faithful service in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have always gone to church with them and participated in various church activities and organizations. And factually I knew the beliefs of the church and knew that my parents knew it was right. But I am one of those people that will always ask what seems to be too many questions. I wanted to know it all. So I did what I could to study everything. I read books and asked people questions. And eventually I took psychology and sociology in high school because I still was not satisfied with my knowledge. I wanted to know what people thought and believed and I wanted to know why they believed those things. And I kept hitting the same wall with everything I studied. It came down to the fact that people just accepted what they heard one leader or another. And the final say was just because they said so. I didn't like that. But I had been taught that if I had faith and prayed that I would get a personal answer from God. And although I was not okay with the "I say so" of the long passed away leaders of the world I knew that if I could get an answer from God than that would be more than enough for me. So that's what I did. I prayed over and over. And many times it was just a warm feeling or when I rushed it at night before I got in bed sometimes I didn't recognize anything. But as I was persistent slowly I came to recognize the answer of the Lord. One night as I knelt praying to God, as I would speak with my own earthly father, I began to realize that more than just a feeling of peace and goodness, I was receiving thoughts that were clearer and more defined than my own. And I was told that I already knew the truth. From that day I have developed such a great testimony of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and a strong relationship with my Heavenly Father. I know that Christ lives and He loves us.

How I live my faith

I have served in a variety of ways throughout the years. I am an Eagle Scout and as such I have worked hard to participate in and lead many service projects including my own project in which I helped prepare over $1000 worth in humanitarian aide kits, medication, and other goods to help children in need around the world. I later served a mission in South Africa where I was able to help many people find the joy of the Gospel of Christ which is the greatest service I believe I have to offer. I was also able to help people in planned activities helping with landscaping, gardens, and housework that helped enrich the community as well as unplanned activities that often ended up with pleasantly surprised individuals as I and my fellow missionaries would end up wielding pickaxes, rakes, and hoes in shirt and tie as we helped out as many people as we could. Currently I serve as a teacher for the men in my local ward. I enjoy searching the words of the prophets both ancient and modern and use these words of God to bring the class a glimpse of the joy God has planned for them.

Are Mormons Christians?

Yes! One of my favorite verses in The Book of Mormon is 2nd Nephi Chapter 25 Verse 26 it reads "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a remission of their sins." I know that our Savior, Jesus Christ, lives and loves us because The Book of Mormon, a second testament of Christ, confirms the truths of the Bible and sets to rest the confusions of the world in the beautiful words of God as revealed through His prophets in the ancient Americas.
