Hi I'm Marissa

I love learning, reading, and being outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying Community Health Promotion because I believe that we have control over so many aspects of our health and can improve it by the simple things we do each day. I am married to my best friend and the love of my life (we got married in December 2012). I LOVE reading (especially fantasy books) and Harry Potter is my absolute favorite series (but Maze Runner, Divergent, Hunger Games, Narnia, and Lord of the Rings are up there on the list as well). I love exercising, but some days I prefer walking over running. I love kids and I look forward to having some of my own in the future!

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were converts to the church, so I grew up taking the gospel and the knowledge I had for granted. However, there comes a point and time in everyone's life where they have to decide what they want to do. What is right for them. I read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it so that I might have that sure testimony for myself. And I was blessed to receive that. I was filled with peace and the assurance that I was living my life in a way that followed the commandments of God and I was doing my best to live righteously each and every day. I'm a Mormon because the gospel teaches me that I can change. It teaches me that my Heavenly Father knows and loves me. I'm a Mormon because I have a testimony that the Church of Jesus Christ has been restored upon the earth and that we are blessed with a living prophet to lead and guide us, and to give further revelation for the entire world. I continue to live the gospel of Jesus Christ because it makes me happier and my life better than it could ever be without it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith through the small and simple things. I pray each and every day (multiple times!). I read from the scriptures (both the Book of Mormon and the Holy Bible) by myself, and with my husband each day. I try to be the best wife I can be and show my husband that I love him. In my ward, my husband and I get the joyous opportunity to serve together each week by teaching the Cub Scouts. We are over the Webelos (10 year old boys) and it is wonderful getting to help them learn how to be stronger in their faith as well as stronger as citizens and as boys who love to learn!
