Hi I'm Ben Balla

I'm a high school teacher, I'm a father and a I'm a Mormon

About Me

I teach French, English and guitar at a secondary school outside Bradford. In March my wife and I had our first child, Annabel Daisy. Since then, I don't enjoy going to work as much as I used to! Last summer I cycled from Guiseley to Jura to see the boathouse where the K foundation burned a million quid. I served as a missionary in New Caledonia from 2003-2005.

Why I am a Mormon

Every time I've met a major turning point in life, I have always chosen to stick with the church. Now, the church is certainly not perfect, but I believe that the teachings of the church are. I'm at my happiest when I feel close to my Heavenly Father, and this means regularly setting time aside to pray and search the scriptures He has provided. Being a Mormon is not easy, but from my experience, living without the gospel is much harder.

How I live my faith

I teach Sunday school at church each week. We usually have some really enjoyable discussions about God, his plan for us, and how we can best deal with the trials we all face every day. I also spend most Thursday nights with the youth of the church running activities such as visiting the elderly, serving others in their gardens or trips to the driving range. My friend, Steve, and I try to visit a few families from the church each month to catch up with them and see if there is anything we can do to support them in any way.
