Hi I'm DaNeesha Walker

I grew up in a small town called Rexburg. I experienced abuse as a child. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was abused as a child by my father verbally and emotionally. This was hard for me because with these types of abuse I there are no bruises or broken bones there is just emotional scares that often can be hidden. Almost everyone of my friends, neighbors and ward members thought that we were a perfect family because we tried to hide the dysfunction and pain from everyone. When I was about 9 my mom had a mental breakdown caused by my father physically, verbal and emotional abuse while my sister and I were at a friends house for a end of school year party. My friends mother took my sister and I in for several months while my mom was recovering. I was scared and felt alone. My father would called harassing my friends mom to make us come home. I found solitude in prayer. Heavenly Father was there for me and my sister. We were just a couple of scared little girls worried about their mom but I know he carried us through it and made sure that we had the support we needed. When my mom got out we left my dad after that our life changed significantly. My family was homeless through most of my high school years. All the while I saw my mom turn to the Lord and the scriptures for strength. She taught me that there's no limit to the strength you can get from the Lord. He has provided everything for us to get through any challenge that is thrown our way. I know that I have a Heavenly Father loves me and that has blessed me with an loving husband and baby girl. I know this church is true.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy and a better person. There have been times where I have been lazy and have not read my scriptures and prayed etc and I can feel a difference. As I do the things that have been taught to me as a child and put my best effort into my callings and following the teachings of the church I am happier, a better mother and wife.

How I live my faith

I am constantly trying to be the best person I can be. I definitely far from perfect but with encouragement from the scriptures and those around me I am trying to be actively involved on serving those in need around me. I try to look for those who have a need and help them. I visit teach women in the ward and as I do I have become very good friends with them and my visiting teaching partner. I help plan activities for the women in the ward to do and take a break from there busy lives to feel the spirit and be uplifted. It has been good to go to these activities in the week so I can get that growth and patience that I will need in the rest of my week. Having a baby girl and being a new mom I need that extra boost in my week to help me be a better mom to my daughter who greatly deserves it.
