Hi I'm Michael

I grew up in Miami, FL, I love sports, I served a full-time mission, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born in Queens, New York and was raised in Miami, FL. I come from a city with various cultures and have learned a lot from each one of them, from food to music I've enjoyed it all. I grew up in a Colombian home where we spoke Spanish all the time and was taught the importance of having moral values. I'm a very active person. I enjoy going to the gym and playing all sports, I have a deep passion for soccer, football, and basketball. You can say I'm competitive, I always strive to leave it all on the field. All in all I consider myself a good person trying everyday to be the best I can.

Why I am a Mormon

I remember when I was younger I was living my life a certain way that made me feel empty inside. At times I was blinded by what the world said was ok and I would partake of such things and realize in the end I wasn't happy. I remember one day in Church being taught important gospel principles that would change my life forever. I was taught about the atonement of Jesus Christ and how he suffered for all of my sins and through him I could find true happiness. I remember I felt a strong feeling in my heart that I needed to turn my life around and repent of the things that I was doing, through an inspired and loving Bishop who helped me set goals I was able to change my ways. Although it wasn't easy, I knew Heavenly Father loved me and had purpose for me. Later on I went off and served a mission which changed my life forever. I am a Mormon because I've felt the love of God in my life, he has blessed me immensely and I know the feeling I received when I was younger was the holy ghost testifying that this was the true church . I don't know where my life would be today if I had not decided to follow my Savior Jesus Christ. I am forever grateful with God.

How I live my faith

I served as a missionary in the Oregon Portland Mission. There I had many experiences that strengthened my testimony and helped me become a better disciple of Christ. I learned to love the scriptures and how to be a leader. I learned to LOVE the people as the Savior would and had tons of success because of that. My mission meant everything to me, I could say it was indeed the best 2 years. Today I serve as the 2nd counselor in the young men's presidency in my branch, every week I share with them the importance of serving a mission and how they will be blessed for the rest of their lives for serving one. I'm far from perfect but everyday I try to be a good example. I'm not shy or scared to share my beliefs with others. I try to share my testimony at all times and try to serve when I have the opportunity to do so. I've come to learn that when you forget about yourself and look for opportunities to serve others you find true happiness.
