Hi I'm Mary Nielson

I grew up in Santa Rosa, California. I have nine children who are all grown up now.

About Me

I am a mother and grandmother. I love doing anything that is creative, writing, painting, woodcarving. I like to try almost anything. I also love to read and learn. My biggest joy is spending time with my children and grandchildren. They are my best friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have many ancestors who crossed the plains with the early pioneers coming to Utah. My parents taught me to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ. I have tried to pattern my life after the examples set for me. I have grown closer to the Lord as I have studied the scriptures. But mostly I am where I am because of answers that I have gotten through personal prayer. I know that Heavenly Father hears me and loves me and that this is the true Church where I can learn what I need to do to return to him.

How I live my faith

I have done a lot of teaching in the Church which is fun because I learn so much while I am doing it. I have helped put on some musical plays and organized a lot of programs for holidays and such. I have spent a lot of years with the young women at girls camp. I really enjoy creating ways to teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to my family. I started reading the scriptures to my children when the oldest was six. I wanted them to pick up the language of the scriptures while they were still learning language. I love reading the scriptures and figuring out how they can apply to my life. Now my husband and I are going to teach college classes on religion and I am very excited about that.
