Hi I'm Michele Johansen

I was born in the Netherlands, I backpacked through Europe, I live in LA, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a 19 year old girl who loves to live life to the fullest. I attended college in Hawaii, backpacked across Europe, completed a 100 mile bike race, now and am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Los Angeles, California! I love traveling, the piano, outdoor adventures, music, and playing the ukulele.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were members and I was raised in this church, but they always gave me the choice to choose whatever faith I believe. I am Mormon because I know this is the true church upon the earth. I believe all of the teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ and that are within the Book of Mormon. I have prayed and had experiences so that I know this is true. I know that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is God's restored gospel upon the earth. I know you can know the truth of these things by praying with an open heart to God and asking if they are not true. I know that I am blessed when I follow God's commandments and I can feel God's love and spirit when I do live my life righteously. I love this church and its teachings. I know Jesus Christ is the the way, the truth, and the light. Because of Him we can all be perfected. I know there is a God and that we can have the opportunity to live with Him again after this life if we live according to the commandments and principles of the church. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

Everyday I strive to live my life in a way that would be pleasing to God. I realize that every blessing and good thing that I have comes from God, so I remember Him in all that I do. I pray throughout the day to express my gratitude and to ask for help. I go to church every week and partake of the Sacrament and attend classes to learn more about Jesus Christ and His teachings. As a missionary I search for others to invite to come unto Christ and follow His example.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Michele Johansen
Faith is to believe but not see. It took me a long time to understand faith, so I will try to explain as best I can. There is a scripture in the Book of Mormon that says, "Faith is things which are hoped for and not seen; wherefore, dispute not because ye see not, for ye receive no witness until after the trial of your faith" (Ether 12:6). Sometimes it is hard to accept something as truth because you do not see it-you do not see the evidence. Faith to me is TRUST. Faith is ACTION. When you have something you desire or hope for, you seek after it. You read, you study, you ponder. Then you begin to pray, to go to church, and you experiment with these things. Then, after your hope, after your trust, when you put forth the ACTION you receive a witness- you receive an answer, then you will have a KNOWLEDGE of your faith. I can promise you that if you do act on the faith that you have and nourish it, it will grow. If you only have a desire to know, that desire will grow and you can come to know. My faith is the same, and I testify with all my heart that if you do these things you can come to know too. Show more Show less
