Hi I'm Melissa

I grew up in Ohio. I have a black lab named Buckeye. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Im a mom and that defines me alot of the time. Ive got great kids and I'm very lucky. I'm remarried to my soul mate and best friend. I love helping others especially my father-in-law who is 83. He's a trip. I garden and I play with my dog Buckeye who is our furry kid at home. I read. Alot. I love doing family history research and it fascinates me the way my ancestors lived. I love being alive and just enjoy the little things.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because it was the only church that answered all of my questions. I loved their focus on families and how important they are. I loved the fact that noone was paid to do the Lord's work and that everyone had regular jobs just like me. I loved that I could make sure my loved ones who died could have the gospel through temple work. I loved that this church looked at things with an eternal perspective. I loved their support system. I loved reading the Book of Mormon. It spoke to my heart and I knew that no one man could have written it without the holy spirit and the love of the Savior. I converted in 2005. It has been the sweetest most fulfilling time of my life.

How I live my faith

I am lucky because I work in the nursery and get to be with the most amazing toddlers. I look forward to their cute sayings and their sweet spirits every Sunday. It humbles me to know that someday they will be my future. I love being a part of that. I go to church every Sunday and being there is like filling a void I miss all week. It just gives me so much on so many levels.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

Melissa
The fact that I am here living and breathing everyday tells me there is a God. The births of my beautiful children and the sweet innocence of the little kids I spend time with leaves no room for doubt. The trials I have faced have shown me Gods hand on my life as I look back. My husband and all he does for me tell me God answers prayers. He gave me so much. Being in nature and listening to the birds fills me with awe at the vastness of his reach and his love for us. Why is family so important to Mormons?

Melissa
Family holds special meaning for us I think because we have a testimony of how much families mean and the role they play in our Heavenly Fathers plan for us. Not just our own family unit but our church family and in a sense the larger ties in our community and our relationship with the world. Being loved and accepted and knowing we are loved not only by our parents and siblings but also our church family gives us the tools we need to succeed and to grow spiritually. We are able to do for our deceased loved ones ordinances that can allow us to be together for always. That is so powerful. We are able to lift each other up and give each other a stability and encouragement that I believe is vital. Just walk into our church on a Sunday morning. I guarantee you wont be disappointed.
