Hi I'm Marco Texeira

I was born and raised in Brazil, and in December 2010 I arrived in Las Vegas, NV, and I am a Mormon

About Me

I am a geeky boy, who loves to crack a joke every once in a while, I love computers and computer stuffs, and I also love dogs. I am a bit taller than your average Joe, so I get some extra attention at the line in the bank or at the grocery store. I am very friendly and I am not afraid to walk to someone to tell them they look good, or that I like their shirt.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to be a member of this church because I prayed about the Book of Mormon, and I prayed to the Heavenly Father, and I asked him if I should join this church, if the teachings were right. It was my second visit to church and it was the first Sunday of the month, which means that members would share their testimony, and I remember listening to a testimony and looking over the missionaries that were sitting with us in the chapel, and my heart was felt with joy and tears came down my face... As soon as I felt that, it was obvious to me that this is the true church, and that all its teachings and principles are true. I remember then, the next time the missionaries visited me, I shared the testimony that I just acquired, "I know this church is the right one, I know that the Bible and the Book of Mormon are true books inspired by God, in the name of Jesus Christ, amen."

How I live my faith

As I am writing this I am getting ready to be a missionary and share the gospel with people. I am always trying to help the young men in my ward to follow the right path. I also go out with the missionaries every once in a while, so I get to know what it is like to go out there and visit people.

Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Marco Texeira
We don't worship the prophets of the Church. The first and second commandments Exodus 20:3,4 "Thou shalt have no other gods before me. [4] Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:" Show more Show less

Why do Mormons perform proxy baptisms in their temples?

Marco Texeira
I suppose you know how ice cream tastes like, and I suppose you like ice-cream, now imagine all the people that lived their whole life without knowing how good ice cream is and how it would be so cool if they actually got to try it. Now apply that to the gospel, if people died without knowing about it, we give them a chance to know it, or, "have some ice cream," if they choose to in the afterlife. Show more Show less
