Hi I'm David Fillmore

Now Elder Fillmore, I grew up in San Diego where I lived on Surfing and fishing, and now I serve my Savior full-time in Spain.

About Me

I´m 21 years old, born and raised in San Diego, and I love whatever keeps me outside and even more what keeps me in the water. My favorite things to do are surf, snowboard, skate, wakeboard, swim, fish, hunt, football, fútbol, baseball, and volleyball. I´ve never been able to sit still for more than 30 seconds of a video game and more than 30 minutes of TV. Well, that last one´s a lie when it comes to Duck Dynasty and The Walking Dead. I love my family, we love Disneyland and the beach. The only thing better than going to Disneyland or surfing is to take or teach someone else how to participate in such a fun activity. Through this, I learned that the best happiness I could get from the Gospel I live was to share it with others. For that reason, I have set apart two years of my life and given it to the Lord to be at his service wherever it may take me. It is a sacrifice but when you look at it all together, I´d beg to do it all over again. I am currently serving in Southern Spain and I love it. Everyday is another day where I get to work my hardest to bring someone to this eternal change of life for the better.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. However, this is not why I am currently a fully active member of Christ´s church. I grew up, going through my teenage years, had my doubts, got into trouble like many teenagers inside and out of the Church, and eventually came to the age where it all depended on my own decisions. It´s hard to admit that this first while of what seemed to be ¨full freedom¨ was not filled with wise choices. It got me into more trouble and struggles and just an overall dark phase of my life. I have to give a lot of credit to the incredible examples in my life including my siblings, parents, and close friends. Seeing their lives and blessings and just pure happiness led me to change my desires and thus my actions. Working with the help of my beloved church leaders, I was able to experience the full blessings of the Atonement of Jesus Christ and clean myself and really give up the sins that were never really all that great in the first place. I now enjoy a happy family of peace and happiness and even more, bringing those same blessings to the beautiful sons and daughters of God here in Spain.

How I live my faith

Something that I learned recently about the commandments really hit me on why we seem to have so many. We have our agency and we get our concequences in respect. The commanments we have from God, which come through his prophets, are here to give us an opportunity to decide which path we want to be on. Commandments are absolutely not restrictions. The only restrictions we have in life are the consequences that come from us deciding to disobey a commandment.
