Hi I'm Kali

I am from Dallas, Texas; I am 19 years old and I am a mormon.

About Me

I am a prenursing major at the University of Texas; however, I am now preparing to serve a mission in Chile. I love sports and really anything outdoors, hiking, kayaking, etc. I plan to become a pediatric nurse practitioner after I get back from my mission, I love working with kids! I also plan to spend a few summers in rural South America volunteering at health clinics. I am the oldest of four children, 2 sisters and 1 brother.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon family. All my life I have been taught the Mormon gospel and it has been the only constant thing in my life. Everywhere I move, the gospel is the same and the people are so kind and loving. In the years after I graduated I had to decide if beng a Mormon was really who I wanted to be. This decision did not come quickly. I started to pray and ask God if the Mormon church was the right church. When I didn't receive an answer right away I just assumed it was because that's what I had always been taught and even if it wasn't, it was making me a better person. Then later on I again decided that I need to know for sure if the Mormon church was true before I served a mission. After fasting and praying I came to realize that the Lord has helped me so much through my life. He has always been by my side. First, I looked at the basics and asked myself if I believed in Jesus Christ. I always knew that no matter what I believed in Jesus Christ because every time I hear about him or read about him, the spirit is so strong. I then asked myself if I believe in Joseph Smith. My answer was the same. I continued to go down a list of all the aspects of the gospel and ask myself if I believed in them. After asking myself that question, I prayed to my Heavenly Father to know if my beliefs were correct. After getting down on my knees in a quiet area and sincerely praying (as I had not done too often in the past) I went on about my day. Later on that day, something happened that made me recognize how much the Lord loved me and protected me. At that moment, I felt a warm, peaceful feeling that the Mormon gospel is true and that my Heavenly Father loves me so much. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I have been called to be a Young Single Adult (YSA) Representative for my ward. Which means that, I invite others my age (18-30) to come to our YSA activities and to church. I have also been called to serve a mission in Chile. I have been preparting for this by going out with missionaries in my area and helping them. I also go to a class that teaches me how to be a good missionary every sunday evening. I try my best to keep all of the commandments and go to church each Sunday.
