Hi I'm Kara Allen

I am a wife and mother to three boys, blogger, business owner, author, party stylist, service activist, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the oldest of 4 and grew up in a single parent home with very little when it comes to material things, but we were richly blessed with the gospel, which was more than enough. As a college student, I served a mission for the LDS church, spending 18 months learning spanish and doing volunteer work in taking the message of Jesus Christ to the beautiful country and people of Paraguay. Now, I'm a mother to 3 boys and a wife to an amazing husband. I love to travel, and love meeting and connecting with people and places across the globe. I love to create, paint, renovate and decorate; and always have a project I'm working on. Party planning is a passion of mine, which is why I started a blog 7 years ago. My blog has since grown into something I never imagined. I am now a business owner and the creative director behind Kara's Party Ideas .com, which reaches thousands of people all over the world daily. I have had the opportunity to work with many large companies and brands, and have taught workshops in Australia and Brazil. I feel so incredibly blessed. I'm an author of a book that published in 2013, and believe in following your dreams. I love to find opportunities to serve, and feel happiest when I put others before myself. I love the outdoors, and feel so close to my Heavenly Father when I'm somewhere outside. I am the Young Women president (a church youth group of girls ages 12-18) and have 53 girls whom I love like my own. I love uplifting music, and really like to sing.

Why I am a Mormon

I don't know what I did to deserve the amazing gift of being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Being a Mormon means everything to me. It is my rock and foundation. It brings so much happiness to my life and a joy that is indescribable. I am so grateful for our loving Savior, who atoned for our sins and died on our behalf; paving the way for us so that we can return home to our loving Heavenly Father again. I am far from perfect, and feel beyond grateful that I can always rely on my Savior and His gospel and truth, because no matter how many times I fall He is there to pick me up and give me strength, courage, and hope. I feel so blessed to be able to go to the house of the Lord and participate in ordinances that have enriched my soul and blessed me immensely. The great blessings of the temple not only have a great impact on my life, but will bless my posterity throughout eternity. My marriage does not end at 'death do us part', but is eternal. Through temple ordinances my family will be together for eternity. The temple is a place like no else. The spirit that is felt within it's walls brings a peace to my soul that strengthens me more than words can say. I am eternally grateful for my membership in this church, and to my Father in Heaven for all He has done for me. I hope and pray that I can be an instrument in His hands throughout my life. I will do everything I can to obey God's laws and gospel truths, because through the Plan Of Salvation I know that we can all return home to our maker, and that is the day I look forward to more than anything else.

How I live my faith

My parents divorced when I was 5 years old so I grew up with my mom and three siblings in poor circumstances when it came to material things and our home. Because we had so little so many people in our community and church reached out to us, from a front porch full of gifts on numerous Christmas mornings to support, amazing leaders and most of all, love. We never went without and were always greatly blessed, especially because we had the Gospel of Jesus Christ and were members of His church, which enriched our lives and gave us great faith, strength, and hope. At a very young age I told myself that I was going to give back what so many others had given me. I wanted to make a difference in this world, and wanted to bless the lives of others as my life had been so greatly blessed. Now, my husband and I have tried to build a home centered on the gospel of Jesus Christ and service. I feel so blessed to have discovered the great secret to happiness in life…the pure joy felt through service is unlike anything else. On two occasions this past year my husband and kids and I traveled to an orphanage in Mexico to do humanitarian work, which is something we will never forget. But we don't have to travel far to find opportunities to share the pure love of Christ. Through my online presence I have been able to share the gospel with people across the globe, and have had sweet and spiritual experiences that I will always cherish. I am the president of a youth group at church, which consists of around 50 girls ages 12-18. I started a #sixtydaysofservice campaign at the beginning of this year with my girls, which we shared via social media. We had no idea what our acts of service would inspire, as now youth groups from all over the world have heard our story and have started their own service campaigns. Overall, I feel so blessed to be a part of this church, and feel such joy and happiness. I want everyone around me to feel the same and have the same blessings in their lives.
