Hi I'm Sam

I grew up in the midwest. I value education and play the piano. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Midwest, in the small city of Joplin, Missouri. I have grown to love this part of the world, and especially the people of this area. On May 22nd, 2011, an EF5 tornado ripped through the center of Joplin, leveling a third of the city, and taking the lives of 161 people. The memories I have of this experience, the good and as well as the bad, will forever stay in my mind. It's easy to be caught up in your own predicaments in a tragedy like that, but the actions I witnessed in those around me, was the complete opposite. I saw numerous Christ like personalities and doings bloom out of so many people. Many put aside their losses to come to the aid of their neighbor. I will never forget a man who helped clean debris in the front yard of my home. When thanking him for his help, I found that he himself lost his entire home, just days before on that fateful day. Although natural disasters bring to pass many horrible things that I wish for no one to go through, these tragedies also bring certain things that we sadly don't see a lot of in our world today. They bring to pass those Christ like acts of kindness, and true neighborly love that unite us as brothers and sisters, and as children of our Heavenly Father. I know for a fact that that is what our Heavenly Father asks and wants of us. To truly love one another as we go through the many trials that life throws at us

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it makes me happy. The Gospel is truly a blessing. It gives me peace in the many trials that life is packaged with. It gives me knowledge that I am so grateful to have. It rears me in being the best person that I can be. It helps me open my eyes and love those around me. But most importantly, I am a Mormon because of the simple messages that I am taught. Those being that I am a Child of God. That we are all children of our Heavenly Father. That we have a savior, Jesus Christ, who loves us dearly. And that our Heavenly Father has a plan for us, so that we can return to live with him one day.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be an example to those around me. Being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints comes with a price; it is difficult. Many do not agree with or believe in the things you believe in. You are often seen as an outcast, foreign, or even a little strange. But even though it is so difficult, it is worth it. Much of this was put to the test while I attended High School. I tried to make it known that I was a Mormon, and was determined to show my peers what a Mormon was by trying to be the best person I could be. And although I did make mistakes, as any teenager does, and I was not perfect, and I too often had to stand alone, I wouldn't give up living my faith for anything in the world. I see the light and happiness that the Gospel brings to those around me and as well as myself. This happiness is what motivates me in preparing to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the near future. And although I am yet unaware of where I will be serving, I know that the message will bring happiness to those who listen and that it what my Heavenly Father wants me to do. Even if it is difficult.
