Hi I'm John W Whiting

Raised in Minneapolis, I designed microcomputer systems in Seattle while raising 6 fine children -- I'm Mormon.

About Me

I'm an odd duck -- a strait-laced Mormon with very liberal views, a logic engineer with a theatre background, ultra-cheap so that I can afford to give generously, and a loner by nature with 6 kids and a couple dozen grandkids. I retired early to serve missions with my wife, and still enjoy great health so I can volunteer with the Church and community.

Why I am a Mormon

I have seen the power of the Spirit working in my own life and in that of others, from which I know it's real. I appreciate the logical beauty of the gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by His Church. I see the positive effect of the Church on its followers. Why would I not want to belong!

How I live my faith

My wife and I run the local Family History Center, where a couple dozen volunteers help both Church members and others from the community learn about their ancestors. I also help at the Church's pear farm, and serve on the board of our homeowners' association.
