Hi I'm Natalie Swann

I grew up in Utah. I'm a volleyball player, a singer and a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In my hometown, I played volleyball for seven years, and competed in the state tournament with my high school team three years in a row. I sung alto in my school's chamber choir, and when volleyball season was over, I lived in the theater. I graduated in 2013 and attended two semesters at BYU Provo studying Biochemistry. I love warm weather and all things involving the sun. I am currently on a mission in the México, México City West Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into an LDS family. My parents both served LDS missions as did my older sister, and this religion has always been a part of me. But, It wasn't until recently that I received a sure knowledge of its truthfulness. In our church we have something called seminary. Seminary is a class at school where the youth of the church learn more about its gospel and what The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is all about. It was in seminary that I began to realize that I needed to know for myself if I believed all that I had been taught as a child. I started reading my scriptures to learn, rather than just to do what I was taught. I started praying to my Father in Heaven rather than to an ambiguous figure everyone said was God. I sought to know for myself if I believed all the things I was living. And I do! I learned that the gospel makes me happy. I am a very logical person, and I often follow my head instead of my heart. The best part about the LDS gospel, is that it makes perfect sense to both my head and my heart. There is nothing else that gives me pure joy. Because of this gospel, I know that I am loved. No matter what happens to me here on earth, no matter what others think of me or what they say, I know that I have a Father in Heaven who knows my name and who loves me. Christ is my elder brother. His atonement is real, and He died for me. He knows my heart and He loves me. I don't understand how everything in this church works, and I probably never will in this lifetime, but I'm okay with that. I know that I am important to maker of this world. What a beautiful truth! I know that I can live with my family forever because of Christ's atonement! Jesus Christ is my happiness and He is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a mission in México City. I toyed with the idea of serving a mission for quite a while, constantly praying for an answer as to whether I should go or not. My answer came through small and simple ways. There were times I sat outside on the grass and received a confirmation to serve a mission. I sat admiring the beautiful scenery, thinking about how grateful I am to have the knowledge that I am the child of a loving Heavenly Father. The earth, the clouds, the stars, EVERYTHING was created by Him, for ME. It was for all of his children that this earth even exists, and He made it because he loves us. It was after thinking things like this, that the same thought would always follow: "You need to let other people know how happy this gospel makes you-you need to serve a mission." And so I am! I am currently living my faith by sharing it with others. This gospel is what makes me happy. I have never been happier in my life than when I am truly live by the principles taught in its doctrine. I want so badly for those around me to experience this same happiness, and this is why I am serving a mission. I live my faith by teaching those around me about the love of the savior. I live my faith by being kind. I live my faith by striving to love those around me as our Father in Heaven loves each of us.
