Hi I'm Merry

I grew up in a small town with dreams of some day being a TV superstar. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the 2nd oldest out of 6 kids. My parents divorced when I was 16. I graduated college with a B.S. in Law Enforcement. I served 8 years in the Iowa National Guard as Military Police, 1 of those years in Iraq. I like to read science fiction and paranormal books. I sing Disney songs a lot. I have no fashion sense and love to make others laugh.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised as a Mormon but decided as a teenager and young adult that I needed to KNOW for myself. The basic principles made sense but how could I be sure that it was all true? I studied the scriptures, had many internal debates, and earnestly prayed. My prayers were answered, it is true. I've felt the same warm reassurance countless times throughout my life as I continue to pray. I know that the Holy Bible and the Book of Mormon are true words from God. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet who restored the gospel to earth. I know that the power of the priesthood is real. I know that our Savior, Jesus Christ, lives and that through the Atonement we can be saved. I continue to study, learn, and grow. And I know that as I listen to our current prophet, Thomas S. Monson, and obey the commandments, I can grow closer to our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

In my church, I currently teach young girls ages 12-18. They are taught 8 values to help them grow and develop into strong women: Faith, Divine Nature, Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice & Accountability, Good Works, Integrity, and Virtue. I try to be an example of these values as I pray to my Savior, recognize Him in all my blessings, encourage continual education, and seek ways that I can help and serve others.
