Hi I'm Del Backus

I work with special needs kids. I grew up in a family of 8. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I like to perform dance, sing, and act. I have a talent for hands on crafts, but I feel like I do better with sewing costumes. I don't. I like to do it, but I'm not all that good at it. I like to exercise my talents in ways that people find unorthodox and rather awkward. I don't go to college because I work at an elementary school with the special needs students. It's my favorite job in the word, because I can see the light of Christ in their eyes. I also grew up in a big family and love them to death. I love to watch movies, lots and lots of movies. And I have a hard time with people who have no humor because I love to laugh and smile.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love how I am with the church in my life. I am a better daughter, sister, friend, and all around person than I feel like I would be without it. I believe in the restored Gospel on this earth and that because God loves all of his children, we call live with him after this life is over. I love being a Mormon because I yearn for truth, which I find this church brings me.

How I live my faith

I participate in my community through charity events and works of service to local organizations other than the church I attend. I am very active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I have been a member all of my life.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Del Backus
Mormons believe that our bodies were given to us as a gift from God. So, being born in His image, we have a certain responsibility to take care of our bodies. Tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea, and illegal drugs all contain substances that are harmful to our physical bodies over a period of time. In not using these substances, we are honoring God and respecting and taking care of the bodies He has given us out of love for Him. Show more Show less
