Hi I'm Janelle Donithorne

I grew up in Portland, Oregon. I am serving a mission in Long Beach, California. I enjoy nature and caring for special needs.

About Me

I have been going to school at Brigham Young University, and I am planning to work in the medical field. I like to attend concerts, hike, and paint. I use the majority of my spare time to read and discover beautiful places outdoors. I prefer to work with those with special needs by helping them become more independent. I love getting to know people and being a helping hand whenever I can.

Why I am a Mormon

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I have learned of my Heavenly Father and His plan. I am not perfect, but I know that with God's assistance I, and those I love, have great potential. I have come to know of His son Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ’s birth was an introduction to His experience of life. By His death He would individually experience and suffer for billions of lives. Every little trial, every little mistake of every single human being was felt. I know He did this so everyone of us could live in eternal happiness and joy. There have been moments where I have felt alone and consumed by anxiety and darkness. However, through my knowledge of Heavenly Father and His son, I have been able to be enlightened through their assistance and love for me. The church also teaches of modern scripture and prophets. I have also come to know that these things are brought about by God, and they have been a great source of comfort and guidance. They further proclaim of His infinite power of love and kindness. This helps strengthen my relationship with my family and become less judgmental to those I interact with. I want others to know of the joy I have experienced by being Mormon. That is why I am serving a mission. I hope to help others know why I believe in what I do. If I was not a Mormon, my levels of gratitude and optimism would be no where near where they are today.

How I live my faith

I strive to reflect Christ in everything I do. I try to communicate and leave time for others. I take time to sit in silence and absorb the world around me. I participate in service activities such as going to retirement homes, or playing games at a children's hospital. I help to organize events and teach Christ's message to those of my church. This is accomplished through the church's organizations and committees. I also seek to implement His gospel to those outside of my church, and I am serving a mission in beautiful California. I pray to communicate and become closer to God. I read the scriptures and attend classes to learn more about God and His purposes for His children. I enjoy reminding people of God's love and knowledge of their existence.
