Hi I'm Quinn

I'm an athlete. I'm a prospective doctor. I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a recovering atheist and am proud to have found my faith in Jesus Christ. I spend most of my free time playing basketball and football or playing video games. I enjoy hunting, fishing, snowboarding, and hiking. I am a huge scholar and have great grades in school. I am preparing to serve a full time mission shortly then go to Brigham Young University to study microbiology and get into med-school. Nothing is more important to me than my family and spending time with them.

Why I am a Mormon

I was an atheist most of my childhood life due to not knowing that there was a Heavenly Father that loved me and knew me. I had no knowledge of Christ until about my sophomore year in high school. I had two close friends to me who had committed suicide and I had no idea how to cope with that decision they made. I tried to carry that sadness and burden on my own but failed. I started looking for God and tried to find out if he was really there. I went to various churches and religious organizations but never felt I understood God or what he wanted for me. The summer before my sophomore year I had a chance to go to Houston, Texas with my cousins and attend a football camp. They were LDS and said I had to go to a church camp with them if I stayed with them. I attended the camp, unwillingly, and was touched by the testimony of a boy in a similar position. I got my first Book of Mormon and read through it over the next month. I requested the missionaries teach me and I received their message. The Holy Ghost testified to me that the Book of Mormon is true and that God loves me. I was soon baptized and continued on in the faith. I now have the opportunity to share that message with others.

How I live my faith

I have many opportunities to serve God within the church. I serve as an assistant to the Bishop in my church and enjoy setting up most youth activities. I serve as president of our seminary class and get to help my class learn more about the Book of Mormon. I am preparing to serve a mission in the Buenos Aires North, Argentina mission for two years speaking Spanish. My greatest joy within my duties is sharing the gospel with my friends and family and seeing Christ's love influence their lives.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Quinn
The Holy Ghost is a member of the Godhead such as Jesus Christ and God the Father. He testifies of the gospel and all things good. He has no body of flesh and bone but instead touches our hearts and personally guides us. The Spirit is there to testify to us of truth. We feel the Holy Ghost when we hear the gospel truth and strive to follow the commandments. The Holy Ghost make us feel "love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance" (Galatians 5:22-23). These feelings are how we know something is true and is of Christ. Show more Show less

Who is the Mormon prophet today?

Quinn
The current prophet of the church now is Thomas S. Monson. He is a retired navy veteran and family man. he leads the church with direct revelation from Jesus Christ. He does as Peter was asked of Christ to "feed my sheep." (John 21:16) He clarifies doctrine and helps guide us in the ever changing world. He was called by God through inspiration to lead and direct us. He is assisted by two counselors and twelve other apostles that help lead and guide us as well. Show more Show less
