Hi I'm Lindsey Barton

I was born and raised in Washington State. I am an artist. I like to have fun. I like to serve; and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a fairly normal person. I recently graduated from Kiona Benton High school in a small town in Southeast Washington and am preparing to serve a mission in Phoenix Arizona. I worked as an office assistant for Mr. Rooter Plumbing. There are some things that set me apart though. Even though I was born into the Gospel my family was not very active. And my home situation was a difficult one with my mom disabled and depressed because of it and the financial problems that we had. I suffered some severe depression myself due to constant emotional and physical battle. However because I stayed strong in the gospel I was able to receive that support spiritually and from good people at church that understood the needs of my situation. I have been able to overcome because of the gospel. I am an artist and work through several mediums. Mostly I draw or craft, but when I'm with friends or don't have the materials at hand to do those things I get creative on Minecraft. One of my greatest joys in life is being able to serve others and make their burdens a little lighter. I like bake and will often make bread or treats to give to neighbors or other people that I meet or care about. for me the thing that really makes me happy is seeing the joy and gratitude that comes across someone's face when they feel cared about.

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I Mormon? With everything that I've been through and experienced through the church I don't think I couldn't not be Mormon. Even though I was born into the church I didn't have a family that was strong in it and so didn't have the example nor the support. So to be where I am at now I had to have my own conversion process. When I was about 16 I was started to drift from the church. I decided that I needed to decide whether I really wanted it to be a part of my life or not. So I started trying to learn and pay attention to what it meant to really have the gospel in my life. I paid attention in church and I began to feel the spirit more clearly. Soon I realized that I was gaining a testimony. At that point I prayed to know and was answered with a feeling surety and comfort. Since then my faith has grown and I have received many reaffirmations about the truth of things. I have seen the hand of the Lord in my life in so many ways and so many circumstances that I cannot look back on my life and doubt it. I am ultimately grateful for the blessings and knowledge that I have received and I feel the only way I could really do my part is to share this same knowledge that I have been blessed with. The thing that draws me most to the church though is the fact that the Church is based on the whole gospel of Jesus Christ. It's not the Church using the gospel as a tool. It's the Gospel that uses the Church as a tool to bring us closer to our Father in Heaven. This is why I feel so much truth and power in it because it truly brings me closer to Him, more so than anything else could. That my friends, is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

At this point in time I attend the Young Single Adult Branch in West Richland, Washington. I live my faith by trying my hardest to live up to the covenants that I've made, both personal and general. I attend the temple on a weekly basis for the work that I am able to do and the peace that it brings to my life. Currently my calling is music director. I take care of choosing and conducting the music for Sacrament meeting and any other meetings that I am requested to conduct at. I currently have two sisters that I visit teach. And having the opportunity to visit with them at least once a month and get to know them is amazing. I go to church every Sunday and often times to more than just my ward to get the most out of things and to keep in contact with all those that I care about. I also find great joy in God's creations around me. One will often find me outside gardening, painting, meditating or in some way being creative or enjoying nature. When I'm not outside I spend much of my time singing or trying to serve those around me.
