Hi I'm Trenten Kammerman

I'm a soldier, student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enlisted in the Idaho Army National Guard in 2008, attended the Brigham Young University - Idaho, served an LDS mission in Mendoza, Argentina, and returned to college. I'm currently majoring in accounting and I'm just finishing up an internship with a forensic accounting firm in California (CBIZ MHM).

Why I am a Mormon

When I was just a few years old in primary. I remember watching the high energy kids bounce off the walls everywhere and a frustrated and overwhelmed children's song director plead with us through tears to just sing one children's song, "I Am a Child of God." She asked us to sing as if Jesus were standing right there and try to see what we feel. So, I sang and watched as my director's tears of despair turned into joy and I felt genuine spiritual peace for the first time. I felt the Spirit. I was raised in the church for many year but I had a very ponderous mind so I started asking myself the deep questions when I was about eight or nine. Shortly after my baptism at age eight I remember being asked by my teacher what I felt. Although I felt that same peace at my baptism I didn't recognize it as the Spirit; however, because I didn't notice it lead me to begin wondering if there was a God, if Joseph Smith was a prophet, or if we even had a living prophet on the earth. One night I laid awake in bed and waited for my 6 year-old brother to fall asleep. Then, I gently knelt and for the first time I prayed aloud and really spoke with God. I was so nervous and scared that the only thing that I could get out of my mouth was, "Is the Book of Mormon true?" After that, an overwhelming feeling of joy, peace, and love overcame me. Absolute assurance, that I had no idea that I could experience, overcame me. That experience has molded me. That assurance has helped me to learn to trust Jesus. And everyday following has helped me to come to know my Heavenly Father and my Elder Brother, Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I'm an Elder in my church and have served as a teacher for multiple classes. I also served as a full-time missionary in Argentina for two years. However, I've found that I best live my faith by trying to be like Christ. Sometimes I don't feel like I do very well at it, but I idolize Him so I sure try. I try to be a good elder brother, a good friend, and a sincere disciple. I try to ask how friends, neighbors, co-workers, and acquaintances are feeling. I try to do better everyday. I live my faith best by simply trying. Then I rely on the Savior's grace to compensate for my many weaknesses.
