Hi I'm Jake

I grew up in Utah. I moved to Virginia when I was 15 and have lived here for 3 years. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I love to be active. I wrestled and played lacrosse through high school and I love both. I love to hunt and fish, hike, and bike. I'm a big fan of snowboarding and ping pong and I love to compete! I am an Eagle Scout and completed my Duty to God recently and I have a strong testimony of this church. I have recently been called to serve a mission and couldn't be more excited! Afterwards I plan to attend BYU.

Why I am a Mormon

I know with every fiber of my being that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is Christ's true church restored on the Earth in this day and time. I have been a member my whole life and never for one minute doubted the truths I have been taught in church and also by the spirit. I know that God knows every one of his children individually and loves us beyond what we can imagine. I also know that he has restored His true gospel through Joseph Smith so that we, his children, can live with him again. I know that the only way to accomplish this is by the Atonement of Jesus Christ and by doing all we can to follow Christ's example. I have a burning testimony of the Book of Mormon and know that all we need to know concerning what God wants us to do and what Christ has taught can be found in this book. The spirit will manifest the truth of all things unto man if they only seek it and ask through sincere prayer. I know these things are true and I bear them in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

How I live my faith

I love to volunteer my time to serve! I have been a member of National Honor Society through high school and have loved serving my community through that organization. I also had the chance last fall to travel to New York to help the Mormon helping hands clean up the damage caused by Hurricane Sandy. It was an amazing experience. My Eagle project likewise was an amazing opportunity to help my community and see the good come from something I put together. Following Christ's example and serving people selflessly is something I truly believe can bring someone true happiness and joy. I have also had the opportunity to home teach families in my ward which has been a great way to serve and help fellow members in need. I love the home teaching organization because it really helps members of our church come together as one in unity and give people in need support because we all need help every now and again.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

The missionaries will share the wonderful message of Jesus Christ and His role as Savior to mankind. They will teach of his Atonement for all people. They will teach of our Heavenly Father's plan of salvation which helps people understand where they came from, why they are here, where they are going and how to live in a way that will allow them to return to live with Him again.
