Hi I'm Sam Richardson

I finished a Marathon. I love to cook. I love my family. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I just graduated high school, and got accepted into BYU-Idaho. I am hoping to major in communications. I am a read head. I love to cook, and eat (especially eat). I love to red, I don't have a favorite book because they are all so good. My favorite movie is Finding Nemo and The Blindside. I love to camp and hike, and my favorite vacation spot is Yellowstone and Idaho. I am also an avid runner. I did the Ragnar and finished my very first marathon (in 5 1/2 hours, but I finished). I love the arts. I play the violin, viola, a little guitar, and a little piano. I enjoy going to classical concerts with my little brother. I am also a dancer. I had the opportunity to dance in the Mormon Tabernacle Choir Christmas Concert.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised a member of this church. However, in my early teens I started to doubt my family's religion. I wanted to learn for myself which religion was true. So I prayed and studied the Book of Mormon and Bible, and through these and other experience I again gained a testimony of this church. I believe now that God the Father and Jesus Christ did appear unto Joseph Smith, and that Joseph Smith did restore Christ's Church to the Earth. I believe that the Book of Mormon and the Bible are the word of God. Most of all I know that this gospel has given me the greatest joy that I have ever experienced and I love this gospel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by following Christ's example and serving others. I love to do service projects with the other young men in my ward just to see how happy the recipients are. I was a family history consultant and I teach people about family history throughout the week. I teach them how find and connect with their ancestors. I am also currently a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Houston Texas South Mission.

How can I know Mormonism is true?

Sam Richardson
In my pre-teens I wondered about this question a lot. I didn't want to be influenced into a church just because my family were members. So I searched, pondered, and prayed. By this I mean that I studied the Book of Mormon and Bible, and I listened to the words of the current prophet. Then I thought about all the things that I had learned and debated them out in my mind. Finally I followed the counsel given in the Bible in James 1:5-6, and in the Book of Mormon in Moroni 10:4-5, and I prayed to know if what I learned was right and if this church was the true church. When I finished this prayer I felt the Holy Ghost come upon me and confirm to me that this church was the true church. It felt like a feeling of peace and comfort. All of the questions in my mind were settled. That is how I know that Mormonism is true. Show more Show less
