Hi I'm Christine

I'm an artist and lover of world cultures. I'm a happy wife and mother of 4 beautiful, bilingual children.

About Me

I'm an American and have been living in the Netherlands for the past 15 years. My husband and I have been raising our four children with two cultures and languages (Dutch and English). Although my University training and work experience is in Graphic Design and Art History, I have chosen to stay at home with my children while they are young, and use my talents in teaching them piano, art, language, and history. I also teach piano to other children in my area. I enjoy dabbling in art-related fields for myself, too! A few of the things I like to do are: paint and draw, sew creations of my own design, renovate and decorate my home, design with my computer, and enjoy art in architecture and museums. There are many wonderful opportunities for enjoying art in Europe!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the mormon church, but I have made a very conscious choice to stay with it. In every time of insecurity or challenge in my life, I've found strength and guidance either in the Book of Mormon, from the words of our current prophet or other church leaders, or through special blessings given to me through the priesthood. I love how the church enables us to use temples, as well as churches, for higher levels of spiritual learning and progress. Through the church I've come to understand the beautiful plan of happiness that my Heavenly Father has made for me, and what I need to do to return to Him. It gives me the hope of being united with Him and my family forever!

How I live my faith

To me, living my faith means that I try to be as much like Jesus Christ as I can every day of my life. I love how he taught, lead, served, and loved others. I look to His example for direction in my relationships, in how I spend my time, and what I give to God and others. I teach a scripture-class to teenagers and love sharing with them my experiences of how to use the messages from the scriptures in daily life. It is great to hear their experiences as well, as together we learn how to put the Gospel of Jesus Christ into action. It truly has the power to transform lives into those filled with joy and meaning! I saw that transformation time and again when I served as a mormon missionary for 18 months in Romania, teaching discussions in Romanian in homes of those who were interested. I met many amazing people who showed me that wherever we live, we are all children of God with the same spiritual needs. Watching them embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ deepened my understanding of how it also blesses my own life. I have also learned a lot about my Savior as I've served in leadership positions among the youth and women of the church. I know that the church as an organization in being directed by the Savior himself and have felt His guidance as I've sought to meet the needs of those in my care. I find music to be a powerful way to express faith and have enjoyed the opportunities I've had to share my conviction through song-writing, singing, and playing the piano in the church. We sing and play a lot of religious music in our home, and I love to watch my children learn important spiritual truths through song. I find nothing more beautiful than the sincere song of a child about the Savior. I also enjoy using my artistic talents in whatever way they're needed to teach, communicate, and beautify the church and its organization. I know that every talent is a gift from God to be used for the benefit of His children, so I'm happy to dedicate mine to Him.
