Hi I'm Rachel

I grew up mostly in Michigan. I'm a Humanities student. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. I study Interdisciplinary Humanities with an emphasis in Philosophy. I also have a double minor in Business Management and Theater Arts Studies. I also study Spanish and I am in the Honors program at BYU. I will be finishing up school after I come back from a mission to Peru. I love hiking, dancing (latin, swing, contemporary, head-boppin' in my room, anything), singing, watching Jane Austen movies, planning fun activities, doing said activities, and spending time with my friends and family.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church, but I have still had to gain and grow my own testimony of the gospel. When I was about 11, I was feeling guilty about something wrong I'd done. After talking about it with my dad about repentance and Christ's loving Atonement and the mercy and love of God, I prayed to Heavenly Father to ask for forgiveness and strength against this weakness. I suddenly felt my guilt swept away and replaced by a clean, new, joyful feeling. I felt so good and I was strengthened against my weakness from that day. I felt just like I did at my baptism at age 8 when I made covenants and promises to Heavenly Father and my sins were washed away. I know that the Atonement is real and powerful when we choose to repent and return to Christ and Heavenly Father. I also have a testimony of the power of priesthood blessings, in which one with the proper priesthood authority can give a blessing of healing or of comfort and direction. I have received many such blessings in my life and I know that those blessings and messages have been from my loving Heavenly Father to me.

How I live my faith

I have participated in many areas of the my church communities, especially in my young single adult wards at BYU. I have directed ward choir, taught Sunday school, organized programs and activities for the women, visit-taught, and acted as president of the women's organization, among other things. I have recently received a call to serve as a full-time missionary in the Peru Lima West mission.
