Hi I'm David McClintock

I'm interested in Mechanical Engineering, I'm serving a mission in Bahia Blanca Argentina, and I'm Mormon.

About Me

While in High School, I joined a FIRST Robotics Team. Being a member of this team helped to grow my interest in Engineering beyond simply "liking" it, to a legitimate interest in a career in the engineering field. Before graduating High School I had the privilege to participate in two internships; one where I worked in the machine shop of a Research Institute, and another where I worked directly with a Mechanical Engineering team that helped develop radios for Public Safety divisions of Local and Regional governments. Besides my interest in engineering, I also enjoy playing Golf (I was on my schools Varsity golf team for 3 years, before quitting my senior year to allow more time for Robotics), Reading Books(Brandon Sanderson is my favorite author), and playing Video Games (Legend of Zelda, Star Wars, and Strategy games are my favorites).

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of this Church because I believe it's teachings. The comfort that I feel when I hear about the Atonement of Jesus Christ, the peace when I learn about our Heavenly Father's Plan of Salvation; I know that these things must be true, because they would not bring me so much comfort if they were not. My friends and fellow members also feel this peace, I can see it effect them in the way they live their lives. For most of my life, I have lived in areas where most people were not members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have watched them as they had fun doing all kinds of activities, some of which I participated in and had fun with them, and others which I would not be a part of because of my beliefs. Although they look they are having fun and are doing well, I know that many of my friends that are not members are searching for something more. They don't know what it is. I've had discussions with them about it, and they don't know what they're missing, but they know they're missing something. I know that what they are missing is the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but they are not interested in the message. So they keep looking for something, and unfortunately, they ignore Religion. I am thankful that my parents raised me in the Church, and that I am able to know that this church is true, tat Joseph Smith was a true Prophet of God who really did translate the Book of Mormon, and that we have the only true Authority on the Earth Today to practice and participate in Priesthood Ordinances. I encourage anybody who is considering looking into the Mormon Church to give it a shot. Follow the teachings, talk to the Missionaries, and see if you feel comforted like I do. I know that if you are obedient to the Teachings of the Prophets, you can feel a powerful peace and comfort which can only come from God.

How I live my faith

I am a Young Single Adult in my ward, and as such I mostly attend activities that are geared towards YSA. I attend Monthly Potlucks which generally have a talk from a leader afterwards. I also attend Institute every Thursday night, which is kind of like a 1.5 hour Bible Study. I also help volunteer at the temple nearest my house. Before being involved in the YSA, I was a member of the youth program. As part of this program, I helped to plan and coordinate activities at a regional level, such as our Annual Mormon Prom, as well as other activities such as Field days and service projects.
